Ways To Listen : Internet

Via a computer

All of the BBC's national, local and regional stations (including the BBC World Service) are available to listen to live on the internet (rights permitting).

Furthermore - the BBC Radio Player makes nearly all of our radio shows available to listen to again for up to 7 days after broadcast.

To use the Radio Player - click on the 'Launch BBC Radio Player' button on the top right hand side of this page. Should you need help receiving the BBC’s radio services via the internet, there is also a link entitled ‘get help listening’ which can help answer any technical questions you may have.

Via WiFi enabled devices

It is also possible to listen to the radio via the internet without having to log on to a computer. The easiest way to do this is via a wi-fi or internet radio. These radios pick up radio stations streamed on the internet via a wireless broadband connection to the radio set.

If the radio is in range of a wireless connection (also known as wi-fi) then it will automatically detect the network and offer the option to connect. Once this link is established, the radio uploads channel listings alphabetically by country and genre to the radio set. All the BBC's national and local stations are available as are all the programmes on demand on the BBC's own Radio Player.

Any wifi-enabled device is capable of accessing internet radio streams and on demand content in this manner. Devices available include many games consoles plus some PDAs and mobile phones. For information about how to access radio streams through such devices, please refer to the manufacturers’ instructions.
