George Herbert's famous poem about glass
I have created these glass galleries using photos of some of the 2,000+ items of antique, period and
collectable glass that I have sold on eBay over the past years with the intention of helping any glass
collectors ( plus dealers ) to be able to identify and to attribute glass items. Wherever possible I have
stated who I believe may have made an item and when it was likely to have been manufactured. This
information is largely based on known trademarks, design registrations and published references plus
some research but in a few instances some of the attributions may be open to debate. I would therefore
welcome being informed of any glass identification or attribution that is known to be incorrectly stated.

The title verse above: "A man that looks on glass, on it may stay his eye. Or if he pleaseth, through
it pass and then the Heaven espy". was written by George Herbert (1593-1633), the clergyman of a
small rural parish in the county of Wiltshire, England and it is taken from his poem:-  " The Elixir ".
