Car junkies, get out your drool rags. The Forza Motorsport 2 team today revealed the first list of cars scheduled to appear in the upcoming Xbox 360 racer. Part one of the six-part series concentrates on European exotics, with rides from Porsche, Maserati, Lamborghini, and Ferrari.

Developer Turn 10 and publisher Microsoft Game Studios also announced the European release date of the game. Like its North American counterpart, Forza 2 Motorsport will hit Europe in May 2007 because the team "felt it was only right for Forza Motorsport 2's online community...to release the game on a global level simultaneously."

@SonyPSP:

"Part one of the six-part series concentrates on European exotics,"

"Isn't this a worldwide site? In Europe they are just super cars. Again gamespot shots itself in the foot with their pro American comments."

...The terms "exotic" and "supercar" are mostly interchangeable here, and don't merit your anti-american rant. The writer is referring to the rarity of the vehicles, not the location of the manufactures.

A vehicle is considered "exotic" when factors (such as groundbreaking styling elements) elevate it to a platform clearly a cut above it's mass production counterparts. The phrase 'exotic' also refers to manufacturer's status of having a high level of exclusivity.

The big difference between the terms 'exotic' and 'supercar' hinges on performance. Basically, all supercars are considered exotic de facto, however not all exotics are supercars. A good example would be the above-listed Porsche Boxster S. This car is clearly 'exotic,' (considering it's stylings, racing prestige and high price point) however, it is not a 'supercar' by anyone's definition.

The Lamborghini Murcielago is a good example of an exotic supercar. This vehicle is considered exotic by car collecters on both sides of the Atlantic. Along the same lines, (though domestically made) the Saleen S7, Ford GT40 or Panoz Esperante GTR-1 are considered exotics in the states, because of their rarity, design, cost and prestige.

"I guess this will run at a pathetic 25fps like the first game? (gt4 was 60fps...) Another thing if forza owns everything why did it sell only sell 2 million copies?(gt4 sold 34 Million)."

Unlike the laughable framerate of a game like Gundam Crossfire, (for the PS3) Forza 2 runs at 60 fps in high-def.

Please take your anti US, sony fanyboy trollings elsewhere.

These cars are boring. What I like about other racing sims is that I can race in cars that I have a chance of driving some day.

Actually the CLK GTR was grossly overpriced and not actually that good. Some of the current AMG Mercedes are amazing. I've driven the SLK55 AMG and it is a phenomenal car, trust me on that.

Where's is Pagani? None of the Zonda's seem to be in the game On top of that there doesn't seem to be any of the amazing Mercs (such as the Mclaren Mercedes SLR). Still some sweet cars from the world's best manufacturers

Point being? PS3 has nothin besides graphics for a game tat took 3 years to develop? that'll show us . lets see i'll take realistic PHYSICS over fancy looing graphics all the way. And 360 COULD produce the exact sae game as motorstorm(being thats it is fully capable of it, but why waste time on all looks and no meat)

Most of those "puny" cars in GT are used for training and license competitions which I think is more suitable than trying to get a license in a Ferrari. And some of the other cars are more for merit, which doesn't add to gameplay, but most people would rather have them because they are still cool to earn. It's kinda like achievements w/ xbox/

This is just 1 of da reasons why the Forza brand is so much greater than the Gran Turismo franchise, coz Forza just only focuses on the high-powered cars, not padding it with an even greater list of cars that are puny, weak, everyday, casual cars that you see in real-life on the roads in Gran Turismo. It's so boring, & offensive it just makes you want to explode your mind for even considering looking at one of them in the game, let alone just racing them!

"Sort of odd that a 35 car list is supposed to be 1/6 of the 300+ cars, however..."

No, it's not like that! The number will vary - you'll be seeing variable numbers of cars in the other parts. Read carefully.

"Just heard the top PC racer GTR 2 is coming to 360 in March. This along with Forza 2. God it's great being a 360 owner."

No, a port of the ORIGINAL GTR game is coming out for the Xbox 360, which could be a turn-off, as that game's got a lot of minor flaws that combines to make it rather off-putting (eg. no rain, occasional instances of awkward physics [a car jumping up into the air after being squeezed between a wall, & a car], etc). Perhaps the team will make some additions, or changes to the port to be more in line with those of GTR2.

The Lambo LP640 should be up there too, as for the Bugatti i dont think that we're gonna see it in a video game anytime soon, and i dont think the Veyron is racing friendly, maybe just a lap or 2, as flatout it empties its tank in 12 minutes.

I hope that the 911 GT1 will eventually make the list since that is the fastest. Nice to see the Carrera GT. That has always been one of my favorites. I wonder how that 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo (997) will perform.

HDready the veyron is too overated its like theres never been a 250mph car built before but the list of ferraris is mental just imagin how many other car there will be
----
The veyron goes 0-187 back to down to 0, in 14.0 flat. No other STREET car on the planet does that. Plus to VR8's is a massive thing to worry about. Unless you know the possiblities of a VR6(buggatti is owned by VW) you dont know why this is such an amazing vehicle.

nappan Turn left, rinse, repeat. It's boring in real life and it's even more stale on a console. Make videogames that let us do things we can't in real life, like vehicle combat, extreme offroad, or burnout style. These hardcore branded car sims are always painfully boring.
------
A) this isnt nascar, which takes the intelligence of a peanut to drive in(until you actually STAND on the real nascar track, you have no say in this) B)Road racing is A LOT more difficult then you may think. Again more proof that you have no idea what it takes to race a car. Racing isnt just getting in a car and pushing teh gas and letting off the gas. Its all about weiht control....read that again...weight.....control
