Why do all the critics seem to like this movie? I was very disappointed. Instead of something resembling Boyz In The Hood or Menace II Society, we got a film that basically boiled down to rollerskating. I was pretty excited for this movie after hearing the song "What You Know" and seeing the previews, but instead of a gripping tale of life in the hood, I got boring, one dimensional characters and a main plotline that no one in their right mind could relate to. The film literally drags along. It would have been much more interesting had the film been about Big Boi's character dragging the younger brother into dangerous drug dealing territory, with T.I. trying to help his younger brother out. It may have been worn territory, but it would have been better than Roll Bounce part 2. At the very least, T.I. does a nice job, as does Big Boi. Keith David does his usual "God I'm pissed at everyone for no particular reason" routine, but it seemed like he was thrown in there. Usually I'm like "Good, Keith David, I bet he's black and superpissed!" Instead, he was kind of tossed into a very uninteresting subplot about a rich girl who wanted to be from the ghetto. Overall, it should have been an R and gone with things we basically all wanted to see. Becoming a man, life on the streets, violence, drugs, and the difficulty in escaping from the ghetto. Not a lame tale about Cascade, a rich girl who's mad at her daddy, and an unrealistic story of a young man randomly going from ghetto to Ivy League.
