The Film Independent Spirit awards announced its nominees for 2014, setting the table for at least a handful of films that will likely receive multiple awards leading up to the Oscars. Alejandro Gonz�lez I��rritu's Birdman leads the pack with six nominations, including Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Male Lead -- none of which is too surprising -- while Richard Linklater's decade-spanning Boyhood, Dan Gilroy's dark, Jake Gyllenhaal-powered thriller Nightcrawler, and Ava DuVernay's Martin Luther King Jr. biopic Selma each received five nominations of their own.
