What's Left?
Hey Matt,

This is actually a question for the Cube page, so please don't put it in with the Wii stuff. I only want to play the GameCube and I don't want to buy the Wii right away. What games are there left? Is there any way Nintendo will keep doing Cube games after the new council comes out?

Dan

Still on the way.
Bozon Responds: Thanks for the letter Dan. Right now there isn't any word from Nintendo on continuing the Cube's lifespan after the release of Wii. The fact that the Big N has made Wii backwards compatible for all Cube games and included the option of a new classic controller to use with the system indicates that it's cutting the Cube life a little short. What we can tell you is that if you ever plan to pick up a Wii it will most certainly play every Cube game you own, and the Virtual Console alone is worth the price upgrade for new consumers.

As for what is left on the system: There's still a nice bulk of games on the way even though Wii was the focus at E3. We're looking forward to Baten Kaitos 2, Super Paper Mario, Tomb Raider: Legend, Super Monkey Ball Adventure, DK Bongo Blast, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 to name a few. There's still a ton to look forward to, so either trade in your Cube and keep the controllers handy if you plan to get a Wii or dust off your system. There are still some hits on the way.

Cube Gear
I know tons of people ask this all the time but what Cube stuff can you use with the Wii? Can you use all the memory cards or do you have to get SD cards now?

Seth K.

Bozon Responds: Here's the situation on Cube gear:

Since we already know the Wii will take Cube discs, we've gotten a ton of questions about what peripherals will work with the Wii. So far we do know the main GameCube controllers, as well as anything using the main four Cube plugs will still work with the Wii. This includes GBA connector cables and Wave Bird as well, so anyone looking to play wirelessly with their controllers or still get down on some Four Swords or Crystal Chronicles action is in luck. One peripheral that we know won't work on the system, however, is the GBA player, as it was built to directly interface with the bottom of the system itself. The same goes for the network adapter for GCN as well, since that also plugs directly into the bottom of the hardware.

From what we can tell, anything that plugs directly into the Cube controller ports will work. Anything else is still up in the air.

As for your question about SD memory. We know the Wii has two ports for the Cube memory cards, so if you already have a way to store game files nothing will change. The ability to save Cube games to the internal flash memory or SD cards on the Wii is a new concept to us, however, and there's no indication that this will be made available. It would be nice to convert our saved games onto an SD card to share with friends across the globe, but right now there's no indication from Nintendo of allowing Wii-specific hardware to talk with Cube-specific add-ons for the system. As it stands, you're either running a Cube disc with the Cube hardware or the Wii disc with the Wii hardware. We'll keep you all informed, though, as we learn more.

Switching Over
Hey there IGN guys!

Now that we've seen the Wii at E3 I'm trying to decide if I want to sell my GameCube yet. What are the chances all the Cube games coming out will move over to Wii? If Nintendo did it with Zelda will they do it now with other games? What about the new Super Monkey Ball on Wii?

-JPW-

Bozon Responds: From what we can tell so far, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the single exception to the Cube/Wii line-up (and as far as we've heard, the GameCube version may only be released in North America). The idea that Nintendo would simply move all its upcoming Cube games over to Wii isn't a very desirable proposition, as tons of people would be quite upset. Also, this would assume that each of these games would have to quickly develop Wii-mote interaction, which is something that takes some serious time, or simply not use the new hardware. We know for a fact that games like Baten Kaitos are already finished and on the way for Cube, so there's no chance it will be switching systems.

Two systems. Two versions.
As far as Super Monkey Ball: You may be thinking of two different games. Right now there is a Super Monkey Ball Adventure on the way for Cube, which is a single-player focused game that takes the gameplay of Monkey Ball into a different world. At the same time, there's a new Wii version of Monkey Ball called Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz that we had a chance to play at E3. These are two separate titles each designed for their specific systems.

Naruto Love?
Naruto 1 is sweet will any others make it on the Cube or just over to Wii?

Andrew

Bozon Responds: Hey there Andrew. Glad to hear you are loving Naruto. As of right now, only Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 is on the way to Cube. There are two other titles already released in Japan (which are awesome as well), and we're hoping to get them for Cube or Wii as well. However, there are no talks of bringing either of these games over to Cube or Wii at this time. Be sure to pick up Naruto 2 if you're a fan though. We've played a few rounds already and it rocks.

Zelda Alternatives
Hey guys. Nice job on the site!

I've got a question about Zelda TP. It looked sweet at E3 and I like the widescreen and 480p for the Wii version but I don't want to use the new controller. Can you tell Nintendo to include the Cube controller on the Wii version? K thnx.

-Kyle

Bozon Responds: This is a very common question as well. Right now we know that the Cube and Wii versions of Zelda TP are being treated as totally different games. Since the Wii version makes use of the Wii-mote to control Navi (who isn't even in the GCN version) we don't know of any way to add the original Cube functionality to the gameplay. From what we can tell, Nintendo is putting out the premium game on Wii to attract new customers but is still allowing Cube-only fans to play it on their system if they aren't too keen on picking up a Wii right away. The games are designed around their own controllers though, so as it stands right now there is no way to use the Cube controller on the Wii version or vice versa. If widescreen and 480p are essential the Wii version stands to be your only move.
