Welcome to the Microsoft Community Glossary project for the Kannada language This is a project of Vishva Kannada Softech, sponsored by Microsoft. This project provides a forum for Kannada speakers to participate in creating a technical glossary of software and hardware terminology.
Translating words used in software products into our language supports efforts to ensure that they remain vibrant and living parts of many cultures. The use of local volunteers to build the glossary allows technical IT terms to be standardized and agreed upon by that community. Those translated terms then can be used for whatever purposes the community desires.
Project Moderator The moderator for the Kannada Community Glossary is Dr U B Pavanaja, an ex-scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. During his one-year sabbatical at Taiwan (1995-96) he wondered why there are no Indian language websites when Chinese language websites and computer systems are available. On his return in November 1996, he started working on putting Kannada on the global map and in a months time the first issue of Vishva Kannada was launched
Dr. Pavanaja, will review the translations suggested by all contributors and then select and lock each term. Once all terms are locked, the glossary will be closed to additional suggestions.
