OFLC FTL

I'm not gonna harp on the whole banning of games debate and whether we should (or shouldn't) have a higher than MA15+ rating in Australia (the debate will rage forever) but after the recent NFL Blitz ban due to the whole drug taking issue does that mean they are gonna ban Bioshock?? I wonder how Deathrow managed to get through because it also allowed drug taking by the athletes to gain an advantage, never mind the frequent swearing. Guess we were lucky because Deathrow was one fun and underrated game.

-- MOKTango

Breathe easy, Mister Tango; Bioshock is definitely on track for release in Australia - the use of body-tweaking drugs in Blitz differs greatly from the sci-fi, art deco setting of Bioshock - hence, the OFLC deemed that Blitz crossed the bad-taste line into content that might corrupt or encourage drug use for positive gain in a real-world situation. That's a scenario that the settings of Deathrow and Bioshock manage to sidestep.

Virtual Conn-sole

Many people like myself can not play virtual console games on LCD and plasma TVs when using component cables. Nintendo has said "too bad" and that we should swap cables when we want to play VC games.

That's not a good enough response, we want to know that this is being looked into and that we will get a 'fix' or a 60htz option sometime in the foreseeable future. I have paid good money for a classic controller, component cables not to mention the cost of the games that I have downloaded.

There should be warnings that let people know that some games will not work with some televisions.

I would like to see sites like IGN making this info public and asking the questions to the big N (who don't like to deal with the people who pay their wages).

Luke

It's a strange thing, this debate over the quality of the ports on Nintendo's Virtual Console. We'd like to see Nintendo go farther than simply asking people to swap cables. Unfortunately, the likelihood is that the companies responsible for porting their content onto the VC probably don't want to spend more time and effort on this than absolutely necessary. This, of course, means we get some rush-job ports and angry letters from gamers.

Where for art thou, DS games?

hi, i want to write (type) in to ask whats with the DS release dates?
compared to the US release dates, we Australians only get a handful of games known to be released? why is this so? i really, really wanted to know when elite beat agents is gonna arrive, but no one, not even Nintendo knows anything. we are down under, but that doesn't mean we are unimportant, i just feel that no-one cares about poor Aus, i mean, come on, it took them long enough to put an office here. Anyway, im just fed up of how many games are released in Aus compared to other countries, we always get the games the latest

thanks for hearing me out,

-- Russell

The games are coming - believe us. The post-Holiday period is always a bit slow, but by March and beyond, many new titles will be hitting Aussie shelves, including Elite Beat Agents. The reason for the delay has to much more to do with the fiscal (business) year and how it is structured, more than Nintendo somehow secretly wanting to punish you and other dedicated fans. Besides, things are looking up - Trauma Centre: Under the Knife is out now and Phoenix Wright is on the way - finally. So it's not all bad, is it? Then there's new Pokemon around the corner too…

High on Halo

Hey IGN AU,

Oh My God! I think I have just realised something considering the plot of Halo 3. At the start of Outskirts in Halo 2, Lord Hood says; "This is the only place on Earth the Covenant decided land. That Prophet is going to tell us why." The Covenant only landed there to blast open the sands of Africa with that giant explosion to reveal the Arc. The Prophet of Mercy also supports this theory more. At the beginning of High Charity Master Chief asks Mercy where his pal is going. Mercy replies saying; "Earth, to finish what we started." This reveals that The Covenant already knew that the Arc was on Earth, well at least the Prophets did. They are going to finish excavating the Arc that they started at the end of Outskirts. Mercy goes on to say, "And this time none of you will be left behind." This shows that Truth plans to activate the Arc and all the Halo rings so no one will be left behind on the Great Journey. So, what do you think?

Oh My God! I think I have no idea what you're talking about! Seriously, the last thing I play Halo for is the plot, which rates about a 9 on the ludicrousity-o-meter. Time to disconnect and go outside for a while.
