We're Sending Two to the Tokyo Game Show

What. A. Contest. You want to go to Japan? With a friend? And not *just* Japan, but the Tokyo Game Show. Here's the deal: Today, we're kicking off a contest that will run through the end of March. We're going to run three (count 'em) trivia questions over this period in the form of sponsored polls. Today's is brought to you by Old Spice thank-you-very-much.

I think Kotaku is taking the zen approach to their contests.

Q: "What's the Answer?"
A: "What's the question?"

Clip: Wii Charge Stations, New PS3 Controller

Nyko shows off some of their cool upcoming accessories in this clip. My favorite two, I think are the Wii charging station and new PS3 controller. Though some of that DS Lite stuff is cool too. Brian Crecente

Right on! Wii chargin stations, finally!

Meizu Music Card Design Winner

Remember the contest Meizu had for users to design their next MP3 player? Well, this is the winner. Normally I would begin shouting blasphemy because it looks hell of a lot like an iPod knock-off, but I just don't care anymore. –Travis Hudson Meizu Music Card Revealed...

This really disappointing. By reaching out to the public for a cool, innovative, unique design, I thought we were going to see something we hadn't seen before. Instead, they pick something that is just more of the same.

SCEA: We Dominated December

The thing about numbers is that there are tons of ways to look at them. Take for instance The NPD Group's official numbers for video game console sales in the U.S. You could say that Microsoft is winning, you could say Nintendo is winning, or you could say Sony is winning. I can honestly say I can see where all three companies are coming from. But since I've only heard officially from Sony so far, this is their moment in the sun.

Mac to Intel: You'll Cramp Our Style

At Intel's booth, not far from the white boy dance station, they have a wall showing off their Core 2 Duo line of supported laptops. There are quite a few manufacturers here...but no Macbooks to be found. We checked with a few reps regarding Apple's absence, giving that Apple and Intel have been hooking up pretty seriously for a while now, and gloating about it to everyone who doesn't have a date to the prom. What did the reps have to tell us?

Monkey can't let go of one branch until they have another in the other hand, I guess. *shrug*

Self-Cleaning Underwear: A Bloggers Dream Come True

The US Air Force has developed self-cleaning underwear that kills bacteria and forces liquids to bead and roll off. They might have had people who don't have easy access to laundry facilities in mind when they developed this, but something tells me it'll be more popular with people who have access to laundry machines but are just too damned lazy to wash their clothes. Just what we need, an excuse for lazy slobs to be even lazier and slobbier. Thanks, Air Force.

Ooh, I'm ordering a crate of these babies. Now I'll be set for the next ten years. Productivity will be up 10%!

Hands-On: Amtek Vista UMPC

Navigating the hidden halls of the Hilton, you can find some pretty cool/weird/boring tech that is eagerly waiting for a retailer to order and distribute.

That's some pretty high-tech signage going on there.

Blu-ray: Betamaxxx 2?

Digital Playground, an adult movie producer (for those of you pretending not to know), claims that they can only release their features on HD DVD discs since Sony will not allow XXX content on Blu-ray. I've tried my best to avoid making cheap Betamax/Blue-ray comparisons, because I thought it pigeonholed a new technology that had promise but little real world exposure. This comparison, however, is an unavoidable direct parallel. At this point the story is still rumor...

There it is. Blu-Ray loses, instantly.

Clip: Godfather on Wii

As I said earlier, this game could go either way with the Wii controls. Right now it looks like it's heading down the kick-ass-gameplay Madden path. Brian Crecente

Yeah, the gameplay looks interesting and I can see why Crecente says it could go either way. I love the whole reloading with the nunchuk!

Amazing Nintendo Kicks

Ok, I'm right on the line with these. I love the shoes, can't get enough of the gaming shoes, but the baby blue color and hardcore Nintendo fanboyism of these sneaks leave me a little hesitant to buy. On the flipside, these particular shoes have translucent soles that give you a peak at a gel-obscured Yoshi on one foot and a yellow-cape wearing Mario from Super Mario World on the other. Maybe they'll come out with a nice black or grey version of these.

I'm sorry, I can't...!
