Halo 3: Mind Blowing Moss and Grass!

It may not be number one on your list of things you'd like to see added to the Xbox 360 Halo sequel, but you'll probably still be excited to read about the horticulture upgrades coming from Bungie. At least, I was after reading the weekly update from the Bungie crew: But our grass is prettier than our moss. It animates, for one thing. Wind blows it, and it's affected by other things. Like explosions.

This might all go to shit if the aforementioned moss and grass manages to survive the rocket explosion...

The Epic Tale of SNES Discoloration

Vintage Computing's Benj Edwards is a man possessed. Possessed with understanding (and solving) the problem of Super Nintendo plastic discoloration, his investigation of the burning question "Was my Super Nintendo always this yellow-ish?" has yielded interesting results. I know my original SNES is looking pretty jaundiced these days, but I'm not that concerned about it.

Wow, the top pic in the jump doesn't look half bad. It's almost impossibly uniform, like some kind of half-assed, limited-edition gold SNES

We're Sending Two to the Tokyo Game Show

What. A. Contest. You want to go to Japan? With a friend? And not *just* Japan, but the Tokyo Game Show. Here's the deal: Today, we're kicking off a contest that will run through the end of March. We're going to run three (count 'em) trivia questions over this period in the form of sponsored polls. Today's is brought to you by Old Spice thank-you-very-much.

@ Jesse in Japan

The GD-ROM is actually physically a CD-ROM that Sega did some tricky-shit-voodoo-magic on to bump its capacity to 1 GB. It's one of the reasons why people could pirate games on standard blank CDs and help ultimately bring down Dreamcast.

My question is "who are the 180-so people (at the time of this comment) to choose the second answer?

Kotaku Magu: This Week's Famitsu Scores (Gears of War Edition)

For the late-comers, Japanese magazine Famitsu has four editors award points on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the best. Here's this week's: Bionicle Heroes (PS2) — 6, 6, 6, 5Shining Force Ikusa (PS2) — 9, 9, 8, 9.hack//G.U. Vol.

logikil says:
"Also, and i will continue to pound this point, BUY A JAPANESE DEVELOPER OUTRIGHT"

Didn't they practically do that with Tecmo(even if they didn't actually do that)? Does that mean this method doesn't work?

EnigmaNemesis says:
"If Japan is so homophobic, then why do they draw their men like lady boys?

And why do they put out stuff like Pokemon, etc?"

You totally forgot to mention Hard Gay.

Sonic In A Comic

Sonic is turning up for Free Comic Day 2007. He'll be featuring in a story called "Unburying the Hatchet", where for some reason Sonic goes nuts and starts attacking his co-stars. And I say good on him. If you're going to restore your tarnished reputation, you may as well start by gutting Tails like a dead fish. Luke Plunkett Free Comic Book Day = Free New Sonic!

miniboss1232, you totally made my day.

I watched that show and used to collect the Archie comics. Back then, I developed a crush on Princess Sally that I'd rather not go into at this point of my life.

Rabid Japanese Xbox 360 Fan Art

Meet Xbox 360-tan. She's got thigh-high boots, Xbox hairbuns, cable locks and a wireless arm. Awesome! The net character looks to be fan art — Previously, we've met the Wii-tan, but haven't yet encountered PS3-tan. See not all of Japan hates the 360. Well, at least one person doesn't.

I'm gonna be the first to bring up that this is going to inspire some ghetto nasty hentai over in a few months. That collossal left fist can probably rip a few.....things.

hawt.

Revealed: Halo 3's Mongoose

No, not the toothy ferret, I'm talking about the new two-person armored ATV that will be showing up in Halo 3. The thing doesn't have any weapons, can't tow anything and can only carry a backseat rider, but it is fast as hell and, I'm betting, very fun.

Nice specs. Feature it in the next Gran Tourismo and there'd be short-circuited computers from fanboy splooge and I won't have to talk to you guys anymore.

Microsoft Got An Emmy, Nintendo Got An Emmy, Sony Got Another...

You here for yesterday's daisy chain of a clusterfuck? What. A. Mess. Now that we've got Sony's SIXAXIS DUAL SHOCK Emmy straightened out, time to shine the spotlight on other winners the National Television Academy honored. Microsoft picked up an Emmy for "Pioneering Work in Near and Real-Time Fully Programmable Shading Via Modern Graphics Processors" for its DirectX technology.

I gave one of my extra emmys as a secret bonus item to an ebay buyer once. He left me negative feedback, calling me a "cheap bastard".

Ashton Kutcher: Nintendo Fanboy

Beauty and the Geek contestant Mario Muscar (has Nintendo tattoo, owns 25,000 comics) has the scoop on the show's producer, Ashton Kutcher. Mario reveals that Mrs. Demi Moore is a Nintendo fanboy and dishes: I did get to meet Mr. Kutcher. He was part of the final interview process, so we had a short interview with him. Apparently, he was on set, but he wasn't actually in view. He talked to me pretty much exclusively about Nintendo.

If Sony or Microsoft were behind this post, it would be marketing genius, since I have an urge now not to touch Nintendo consoles for a while...
