Vanguard Gets Ambitious Release Date

Just a week after announcing the open beta for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, SOE and Sigil have set a release date. The game will be released on January 30th across North America and Europe, with retail prices of $49.99 and $89.99 for the regular and limited editions respectively. Players who opt to preorder the game will receive beta access, a three day head start once the game goes live, and a special in-game scroll that allows players to sprint for longer periods of time.

I really wish companies would take their time on games before shipping them out in beta form, it's the reason why I went and bought a 360 cause I'm tired of the "let's fix it later" attitude. I just want to play games that aren't broken out of the damn box, like the PC version of Splinter Cell : Double Agent.

I haven't played the Beta, nor am I interested. But from what I've heard, they're really rushing this game out ... which in my opinion, is screwing people over, cause you know it's gonna take patch after patch to fix the problems.

Rabid Japanese Xbox 360 Fan Art

Meet Xbox 360-tan. She's got thigh-high boots, Xbox hairbuns, cable locks and a wireless arm. Awesome! The net character looks to be fan art — Previously, we've met the Wii-tan, but haven't yet encountered PS3-tan. See not all of Japan hates the 360. Well, at least one person doesn't.

Ooooo ... what a hottie!!!

Frankenreview - Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions

Capcom's Lost Planet has been hyped since its demo was released around E3, but the fight between man and giant bug is as old as time. We condensed reviews from a variety of sources to decide whether or not Lost Planet was worth your precious time that you could be spending doing volunteer work, and other self-improvement activities. So hit the jump and read up. I didn't make a freakin' bar graph for my own amusement. Ok...maybe I did.

Also, nice graph Mark.

Hell yeah, I can't wait to get my copy!!!

Carmack Prefers 360 to PS3

PS3 or Xbox 360? Quickly, which do you like? John Carmack (creator of Doom, Quake ) has been "pulling" for Microsoft. While he likes the PS3 better than the PS2 and doesn't think the new console is ugly, Carmack just isn't crazy about the PS3 dev tools. He says: But the honest truth is that Microsoft dev tools are so much better than Sony's. We expect to keep in mind the issues of bringing this up on the PlayStation 3... they're not helpful to the developers...

"With much more general processing power the 360 will always be more capable of a.i. and game code calculations though."

Exactly, remember that the PS3s version of "Assassins Creed" will feature crappy A.I. in comparison to the 360s version.

"but... the cell.
If developers ever learn to code very efficiently for it, we might see some insane physics in some games. Or maybe some crazy procedurally generated spore type of things."

Right again. The Cell can't do jack shit for graphics, and can only make some nice physics candy, and whatnot ... but will never and can never do anything graphically.

Hands On: Alien Hominid HD For XBLA

It's Alien Hominid, the 2D side scrolling shooter, but in HD.It's hard, it's artistically fresh, and it's very straightforward. Shoot stuff. Throw grenades. Don't get hit. It's inexplicably fun. This is another strong title for Xbox Live Arcade. Since I don't have much more to say about it, other than "me like", here are the Achievements for Alien Hominid HD. Alien in Training 5 Complete level 1-1 of the game. Hungry Yeti 10 Eat 50 KGB agents with the Yeti.

I can't wait for this game either!!!

Sony Marketing Wet Dream Caught On Film

It's a man taking a picture of Lair on the PlayStation 3 with his PSP camera attachment. That PSP even has a giant PlayStation 3 wrist strap. He couldn't be more pleased to be at the Sony booth. I'd bet dollars to donuts that's a Vaio in his left arm. I'm sure of it!* I still couldn't believe I was there to witness it. Michael McWhertor * I really have no idea.

Now that's a fanboy!

=)

Hands On: Heavy Weapon For XBLA

Rumored to hit Xbox Live Arcade any day now, Heavy Weapon is PopCap's cartoonish tank shooter that is not only easy to control (you merely move left and right, aiming your turret 180 degrees with the right analog stick) it's definitely the easiest game to play at CES. And, yes, I've played Luxor 2. Your tank constantly moves to the right and the sky is constantly filled with enemy aircraft.

To be honest I was kinda weary about Pop-Cap making an action game like this. They need to put out more original puzzlers, and leave the actions games to someone else.

Satchell: HDMI 360 Just "Experimentation"

In a recent interview with Gamespot Crhis Satchell said that the picture of the HDMI-enabled Xbox 360 is really just an image of some Redmond-flavored "experimentation." GS: What can you tell us about the HDMI-enabled Xbox 360 rumors that have been going around? CS: We're always working on prototypes and new technologies and just playing with stuff in Redmond to see what's interesting. I think at the moment we have the widest available connections on the system.

"drm and hdmi suck and the resolution gain of digital over analog does not make up for that fact."

AGREED!
