SwitchPlanet - Swap Games Free Online

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

Thanks for basically showing me how to get a free 25 dollars only to neglect to mention the fact that I'd need a cell phone.

Real nice of you.

Just recently emerging from private beta, SwitchPlanet is a brand new site dedicated to allowing users to trade games, movies, and CDs in a safe and money-free environment. Basically what happens is this: You list what you have to trade, if another user wants it they can 'buy' it from you using SwitchBucs, a sort of virtual currency.

Penny Arcade Respond To Trailer Criticism

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

I thought it looked great! And I'm kinda on the wall with how I feel about Penny Arcade. I read it, and enjoy it most of the time, but I despise Tycho oh so very much, so it kinda leaves me confused on my actual feelings of the strip and other PA related subjects.

Last week, the first footage of Penny Arcade's upcoming game was released. I loved it. A lot of you...did not. In an effort to explain themselves, Gabe has posted a defence of sorts: We were worried though that people might think this was going to be a 2D game if that's all they saw. So we decided at the last minute to attach some of the 3D work we've got. It's extremely early and it's missing some effects like cell shading and a few others. continued »

Clip: Kill The Undead By Typing

Best. Game. EVAR.

If you are going to slay zombies, what better way to do it than typing! And not just typing anything, but typing phrases like "bed-wetting" or "smooth as silk." How's that for localization! Originally released in 2000 for the Dreamcast, The Typing of the Dead is The House of the Dead but with, well, typing. I've never actually played this game, but have seen this in Japanese arcades. It does look way more fun than the shooting version, though.

Week in Games: TMNT Edition

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

According to the screen shot you guys put up earlier when you announced SotN was coming out this week, you showed that it's not Widescreen. It's that same lame fullscreen w/ border thing they do for all the horrible games that come out.

Damn, there a ton of games coming out this week. There were more than I could reasonably list here, so I put together a list of some of the highlights for you. I'll be picking up Cooking Mama: Cook Off to provide a nice balance to my relentless bloodletting in God of War II, but everything else will have to wait...even the Turtles. Flynn De Marco TMNT (X360, PS2, PSP, PC, WII, GC, DS, GBA) Cowabunga Dude!

03/17/07 Kotaku, top 25

IGN's Top 25 PS2 Games

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

Well THAT list is mentally challenged. (Gotta use those proper words!)

I'm glad to see Kotaku isn't full of "WHOAMG God of War is teh best gaem EVAR!!!" kinda people...

Honestly, it's good, but it's not so effin' amazing that it deserves the #1 slot on this lame (read: wrong) list.

Another day another "top" list. This time around, the editors at IGN have put together their list of the Greatest PS2 games of all time. Putting these types of lists together are always a chore and I'm sure this one was especially so given the breadth of the PS2s library. Not to mention the fact that everyone has their own opinions and some people get their panties in a twist because their favorite game wasn't included. I have to say though, the guys did an admirable job. continued »

Grand Theft iPod: Rockstar Steals Apple Marketing Guru

Rockstar Games just landed a new Head of Marketing, Alex Moullé-Berteaux. Before taking the position at Rockstar, Moullé-Berteaux was the the the account director for Apple's marketing. You have seen his influence in Apple's advertising campaigns for products as recent as the fabled iPhone. So what does this mean for Rockstar's marketing?

Epic Lawyers Attack Again

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

IF he made this with the intention of selling it for profit, then he has no reason to complain about Epic coming after him. If not, then the Epic guys need to chill out.

Ok, so we know that lawyers can be, at times, a big overzealous in their hunt for copyright infringement and we now know a one-off gift of a Munny that resembles a Gears of War character is A-OK. But what about original art inspired by a video game?

03/15/07 Kotaku, this day in gaming

This Day in Gaming, March 15th

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

I enjoyed the first move very much. I also heard that the reason it's not a movie adaptation of one of the games is because Capcom told him he couldn't do that.

The second movie was meh. I do remember the adverts for it and getting really psyched about it only to let it kinda slip by when it hit theaters... Then again, I just kinda stopped going to movies after age 15 or so. Only recently started seeing movies in theaters again recently. And that's just so I have a way to hang out with my friends that I barely ever see anymore.

1998: EA releases SimCity 3000 for PC in the US. A key new feature? Waste management. You know, like Tony. 2002: Sony releases Resident Evil for soon to be tortured movie audiences throughout the United States. And I know there are a handful of fans reading this. continued »

Clips: Cancelled GameCube Games

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

That Kirby game, as many have stated before, does look amazing! I read about this game on Wikipedia a little while back when I was in a kind of Kirby phase and was very saddened to see that this had no intention of being released at this moment in time.

Unfortunately it IS a Kirby game so that means I'll spend $50.00 or so only to beat it either that day or the day after. (I'm looking at you Nightmare in Dreamland, Kirby 64, and Squeak Squad!)

Ah, what could have been. For old time's sake, here's clips of two GameCube games that, for one reason or another, never were. First, Donkey Kong Racing, Rare's Cube sequel to Diddy Kong Racing that was canned when Microsoft bought Rare out back in 2002. Speeder bike homages are ace. And second, the Cube's Kirby game. This one's a little more mysterious - originally a Cube game it just kind of...

Clip: Cartoon Clinton, DDR Dancer

Image of Megaseven Megaseven says:

Family Guy definately did lose a lot of fans once it came back. It's not "as good as it used to be" but it's still pretty funny. I LOL'd at this clip a few times. It's just one of those things that'd happen in real life (aka, playing DDR and hearing your Pizza is ready) mixed with a little ridiculousness (Bill Clinton playing DDR) for added funny. And that's prime Family Guy IMO.

This has been making the internet rounds: An animated version of Bill Clinton playing DDR on The Family Guy. Not funny "HA HA," but funny "he he." Well, kinda. Brian Ashcraft Clinton DDR [VGB]
