Japanese Perspective On Console War In America

Another take on something we all have been following. Kotakuite pokemogu writes: This week's Weekly Toyo Keizai, one of the major business magazine in Japan, is reporting the confrontation between PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America. While there is nothing new in this article, it's quite interesting that Japanese businessmen and investors (who are supposed to be non gamers and have never known about the foreign console which has less presence in Japan) are reading this report, because...

"Some less densely populated areas probably do have PS3's sitting on shelves."... ??? Yeah.. So all of Atlanta is less densely populated.... than what? New York City? Well, you got me there.

Phil Harrison Reckons PS3 Launch Best...Ever? Really?

Phil Harrison, from an interview with IGN at DICE: With all due respect to the naysayer in the media, I couldn't care less. Phil, work with me. Help me help you. You can't get all huffy like that because people are writing negative things about Sony. People keep writing that nasty stuff because people like you keep saying stupid things like this: [The] PlayStation 3 launch has been, objectively by any measure, more successful than PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 or other competing system out...

"This pretty much sums it up nicely.

ScrewAttack's 10 "Coolest" Characters

Debatable, yes, but entertaining nonetheless. As a side note, you may have noticed that despite the above being a ScrewAttack clip, it's hosted on GameTrailers. That's because MTV have done a little deal with the ScrewAttack team, whereby The Angry Video Game Nerd, The Video Game Vault and ScrewAttack's Top Ten will all now premiere on GameTrailers for seven days, then appear on both GT and SA. ScrewAttack selling out? Meh, I don't see anything to get your knickers in a twist over.

Kratos, definitely, and Master Chief. Wait, not on the list?! WTF?!

Duke Nuke Dees Nuts is a horrible cliche. MegaMan?! Cloud?! CLOUD?! Cloud's as far from "cool" as Andy Dick! What about Samus, huh? She'd kick Lara's ass.

Absolute crap.

A Public Commentor Execution

As you may or may not know, many of Gawker's other sites do public executions, ripping away a person's commenting access publically while also shaming them with jibes about their family ancestory, currently living arrangements and, if necessary, their general appearance. I've never been one to like such things.

Zim says: "When he was a kid his parents bought him all the christian games so I showed him the Angry Nintendo nerd bible games video. We all thought it was extremely funny his parents bought the only illegal snes game that there was, in trying to give him a christian game."

Ha ha! Just saw the Angry Nintendo Nerd's Christmas Special 2-part Bible Games Craptacular. Maybe the ANN will cover Left Behind sometime. Or that might just be TOO painful even for him.

The New Adventures of Captain S

I love ScrewAttack. They never cease to amaze, horrify and otherwise entertain me with their collection of some of the best fan based game videos from around the country. The Angry Nintendo Nerd, GameJew and Chet and Ace's Awesome Video Games Show are all part of the ScrewAttack stable of loveable oddballs headed up by impresarios Stuttering Craig and Handsome Tom. The boys dropped me a line about the newest addition to their little family, The New Adventures of Captain S.

To quote Ludo from the hit movie Labyrinth, "Smell BAAAAAAAAAD..."

Wow, that was pretty awful. Thanks for that.

Car-Thief Kid Busted, Lazy Mum Blames Driving On "PlayStation"

9 year-old Semaj Booker's got issues. In the past month he's: - Stolen a car and crashed it during a police chase in Tacoma. - Been busted trying to sneak onto a flight bound for Texas. - Stole another car in Tacoma, got into a 90mph car chase with police then crashed into a tree when he blew the engine, and had to be forcibly removed from the wreckage. - And...stole another car in Seattle, where he was caught in the vehicle when it ran out of gas. So, yeah, issues. Guess what, though?

"I blame TV"
"I blame computers"
"I blame video games"

--You forgot "rock music". Sammy Haggar taught me how to drive (but not below 55).

Hooray! A DS Figure Skating Game

Lock up your daughters. Japanese developer Spike has answered all the little girls' prayers (you know who you are) and is releasing a figure skating game for the DS. Called Spinning Princess ~ Figure Sparkling Ice Angel, the game features mini-games, dream-boat guys, costume selecting and training. To pull off jumps, use the touch pen to draw large circles. For spins, rub it back and forth. Game goes on sale in Japan on March 15th. Me, I just shriek with glee. Hit the jump for screenies.

I can't believe this wasn't a Wii game first! Ha! This actually looks like it'd be a blast for my niece.... Yeaaaah, my niece.

Station Fires Ten Responsible For Deadly Wii Contest

According to the Sacramento Bee, ten employees of the radio station KDND (107.9, the end) have been fired for their role in a contest for a Nintendo Wii which allegedly lead to the death of one listener. In addition to the firing of the DJs and radio "personalities", the station also saw fit to cancel the "Morning Rave" program. Jennifer Strange, 28 and mother of three, died of suspected water intoxication in the station's ill-conceived "Hold your Wee for a Wii" competition.

Sad that this woman died, but come on, you KNOW going into a contest that has you drink a ton of water and not pee is not good for your health. All sides are to blame (as tragedies usually show).

Too much of anything can kill you.

Akihabara's Tip Top Maid Cafes

For residents and visitors, here's a guide to Akihabara's maid cafes. There's the cathedral St. Grace's Court with its maids dressed like Bridget from Guilty Gear and the PS3 maid cafe Little PSX, which we've featured before. Other mentions are the bear-eared Cos-Cha vixens, the foot massaging Mai Relax and the prim and proper aromatherapy Melty Cure. God, feet, scent therapy and the PS3 — Something for everyone.

Wow.... That is scary as fark.

I'm with kevko, those girls must LOATHE going to work every day.

Sixaxis Gets Emmy Award

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences gave the PLAYSTATION 3's Sixaxis controller the Technology and Engineering Emmy Award. Previously, Microsoft and Atari picked up Emmy Awards. Sony's Jack Tretton said: The overwhelming consumer demand and critical acclaim for PS3 is testament of the platform's strength and the industry's desire for a true next-generation entertainment system. The full potential of this powerful machine has yet to be realized.

Who cares about the Sixaxis or the Wii remote in the Emmy Awards anyway? Just as long as "My Name is Earl" sweeps everything it's nominated for I'm okay.

It's the fucking EMMY's! No serious videogamer should really give a shite. No NON-serious gamer either.
