Clip: Wii Charge Stations, New PS3 Controller

Nyko shows off some of their cool upcoming accessories in this clip. My favorite two, I think are the Wii charging station and new PS3 controller. Though some of that DS Lite stuff is cool too.

I thought it was funny how they redesigned the DS to be smaller and then Nyko buys something to make it that much bigger!

When he sets the wii remote back into the charger, it never starts charging again. I'm assuming the green light at the bottom means it's charging...it never lights back up. Maybe it's because the remote stays on...

Its great he states its a prototype, as it looks cool, but I think some refinement is in order.

I like the intercooler from the PS3, it blends in surprisingly well. And the Wii chargers are awesome and much needed.

I usually don't nyko, they always looked cheap or felt wrong... but these look pretty good.

Nyko proves themselves, time and again, to generally be on the top of the game peripherals heap. I am not surprised Sony licenced their MagicGate tech out to them for their (very quality) ps2 memory cards. Barring the whole Intercool overheating fiasco, they are far and away my favorite peripheral company.

The PS3 destroyer (intercooler) looks awesome

Image of Johnny-C Johnny-C says:

I'm psyched about the Wii chargers. The rubber battery covers are a nice touch.

And yeah, IMO anything thicker than a time adds too much bulk to the DS. :)

that PS3 controller is hideous...

Image of tboneynot tboneynot says:

I'm excited about the Wii charging station, but how we supposed to deal with the Wii straps? I notice in the video the straps aren't on the remotes...so are we supposed to replace the straps ever single time we want to charge the remote? That seems a bit annoying. Hopefully there's some place for the straps to go, but perhaps I'm missing that here.

Image of Yuckee Yuckee says:

To me, the need for a charging station for the Wii-motes is my second largets complaint about the Wii (the first being the Nunchuk and Wii-mote being sold separately)... This should have been OEM stuff, IMO...

Image of Hiru Hiru says:

I wonder what the charge time is on that station. Right now, I'm rotating 4 sets of 15-minute charging batteries. They usually last a week or two before needing charging, and worst case (4 remotes in use at once), there's 15 minutes of gaming downtime.

Oh, and that GH controller looks kind of fugly.

Right on! Wii chargin stations, finally!

It's most likely because he just stuck it back in loosely and the contacts aren't touching. Charge startions that use contact touches rather than plugs are annoying like that as you have to make sure you stick it in properly and the contacts stay touching.

Anyway the PS3 Intercooler actually blends incredibly well with the system. The controllers look a bit fugly though, the GH controller looks okay though. The charger grip is okay if you actually need that much extra battery life (I mean you don't actually have to plug it in until your battery is almost dead). Honestly though the power efficiency is so good on it I can't imagine a situation where you'd be away from an outlet long enough to need it though.

No commenter image uploaded typoink says:

The Wii charging station is a good idea, but I'm not sold yet. A few rechargable batteries have fixed me up pretty solidly so far. I'm leery of anything that changes the way the remote feels in my hand, as I really like the thing as is.

I'm most interested in the Wii Intercooler, personally -- my fan stopped spinning a week ago (my Wii fell over onto carpet -- I think the wire probably just popped loose), and I'd really rather just stick an aftermarket on there than have to deal with getting it fixed by Nintendo.

They might as well've made a bannana, dual-sided dildo like the original PS3 controller... LMFAO

I'm going to pick that Wii charger up, soon, too, neat product.

I dunno about that PS3 cooler, though... PS3 has had NO problems staying cool... plus the 'hotzone' is from an exhaust, so you're just pushing air where it's supposed to exhaust... seems kinda weird...

That DS thing is also very neat, I picked up one for the PSP, it works pretty nicely... looks like this company should get some partnering with game consoles, aye?

Thanks for the find!

I love that PS3 charger.

But the thing is, will it have an independent electric plug or will it "steal" some watts out of PS3 (just like the Intercooler for X360). My 360 intercooler almost busted the power adapter TWICE because it's stealing so much power out of it.

No commenter image uploaded fnc says:

The lighted DS stylus reminds me of those riced out cars with neon lights underneath (but I want one anyway)

I can't imagine really needing an extra eight hours of battery life out of my DS. I only charge it about once every week and a half as it is, and it sleeps most of the rest of the time to boot.

The Wiimote charger is a good idea, but both of my controllers are still running on the batteries that came with them when I set it up on Christmas day. Mind you, I don't have marathon sessions with the thing, but it sees at least half an hour of use a day for bowling, tennis, and browsing.

Image of Crimson Crimson says:

That Wirelesscontroller for Guitar hero is pretty hoss, IMHO... it's a Gibson Explorer.... In Red and Black... *drools*

And it'll compliment my existing Red Octane wireless GH Controller.... Now, if only they'd release the controller adaptors...

I really would like that lite up DS stylus.. Look niffy!

The PS3 controller look pretty "sharp" on the edge like it can cut your hand..

No commenter image uploaded dowingba says:

Looks like the worst controller ever. Not even kidding. My Lord.

Image of Wernstar Wernstar says:

Those products look pretty nifty, especially the Wii-mote chargers and the PS3 intercooler- but I just do not trust Nyko. I bought the charge station for the 360 controller and it was horrible. Only the 1st of the 2 battery packs charged, and the one that did charge only lasted about 2-3 hours max. I looked around on the net and found that a lot of people had the same exact problems (nearly all the reviews of it on amazon.com and everyone who reviewed it on cnet.com.)

UGH.

those PS3 coolers will die... they're bad...

PS3 has a huge 190mm fan, it's EXHAUSTING the air. Now these guys are blowing in the exhausts... it doesn't sound too safe...
Didn't he say there was a fan on the back, where the other exhaust was? Fucking idiots are feeding where it's exhausting....
PS3 has had NO overheating problems, why make it?... also, that knob looks like a piece of shit on such a nice console.

No commenter image uploaded Excelle says:

I wonder whether the charger would work ok with a 2 pin to 3 pin plug converter (I'm UK based)? I have no experience of importing stuff like that.

No commenter image uploaded redslime says:

How does sucking air out of the PS3 help cool it?

No commenter image uploaded Havok154 says:

@ Wernstar:

I had a lady come in that bought a Nyko 360 Charge station and we went through 5 packages to try and find one that worked. It turns out the battery packs are defective. The worst part is we couldn't get more then 1 working battery out of all those packages. My manager ended up just giving her a MS branded one to appease her. That one ended up working fine. I hope they fix the faulty batteries for the Wii Charger though cause it would be really handy.

Image of Sunjammer Sunjammer says:

redslime, either way air passes, whatever it passes by is cooled. You want tust and particulare *out* of the device, not in. You definitely do not want to continuously blow dusty room temperature air into the unit.

That Wii charging station wouldve been neat if it hadn't utterly destroyed the form factor of the controllers. Lame. Ass.
