Instructions
Read each statement carefully, try to image yourself in the situation and then identify how well you could perform in spoken language what is described. Score your ability (0 to 5) as follows:
0: I cannot do this at all.
1: I can rarely do this.
2: I can do this about half the time.
3: I can often do this.
4: I can do this most of the time.
5. I can do this fluently, approximating a native speaker of the language.

For course placement, your reading or writing or listening comprehension levels do not determine your level.

If your total is _____ (see below), you may enrol in any in-class or distance education language course of your choice at the:
0-9 beginner level.
10-49 low or high beginner levels.
50-80 low intermediate or intermediate levels.
80-99 high intermediate or pre-advanced levels.
100 or over advanced or post-advanced levels.
