Guitar Heros 80s Edition Coming

Gaming Target reports that the latest issue of EGM has a look at Guitar Hero: 1980s Edition. I'll give you a second to stop squealing. It's OK, I did that too. The game is already in production and due out this spring, according to the article. No word on whether it will be hitting the Xbox 360 version as a download pack, but why wouldn't it?

As long as they Japanese rap out of it, I agree with you zaiten.
Unfortuantly no one Harmonix really follows music from Japan.

Europe is a stretch for them really.

Just keep them coming and I'll just keep on buying.

Rumor Smash: Msoft Not Buying Capcom

The Rumor: Word is beginning to trickle down to fitbabits HQ from several independent sources that Microsoft has all but completed the purchase of Capcom. I'm not going to spell out the ramifications if this one is true, but I will mention two words and a number - Resident Evil 5 The Smash: While no one will officially comment on this rumor (We all know and love that song and dance). It appears this particular bit of gossip has roots in a thread that hit NeoGaf on Jan. 10.

What a horrible and complety fake rumour.

Japan Celebrates New Year With Nintendo Purchases

Another week of Japanese sales charts, another week of Nintendo domination. Ten of the top ten games sold during the week of 1/1 to 1/7 are all for a Nintendo platform—8 Nintendo DS games, 2 Nintendo Wii games. Here are the top ten games sold in Japan, according to Media Create, for the first week of 2007. 1. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (DS) 266,827 / 860,820 2. Wii Sports (Wii) 166,011 / 732,719 3. Wii Play (Wii) 141,702 / 664,512 4. New Super Mario Bros. (DS) 128,211 / 3,986,506 5.

Except for Love & Berry DS, I sadly am one of the buyers for every single game.

Sigh, I'm just another face in the crowd for gamers.

機動戦士ガンダム ターゲット イン サイト, which is Gundam, is such a horrible game.
If it wasn't for the name Gundam on it, it would have burst into the flames.

Yes, Kotaku, Nyko Does Enable Guitar Hero On PS3

After Crecente posted about Nyko's announcement that their PS3 Play Adaptor allowing Guitar Hero controllers to be used on the new console, I immediately went into doubt mode. I even questioned Crecente's ability to read press releases, as I'd heard in November from a Red Octane rep that there was no workaround for getting your current guitar controllers to work on the PS3. Fortunately, I was wrong. I stopped by the Nyko suite yesterday at CES to get it from the source.

I hope it works, right now my PS2 is just there for Guitar Heroes, Virtual On, and various fighters with my arcade sticks.

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

After spending the entirety of my week playtesting new and upcoming Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows games at CES, I'm just about due for a break. But screw that. I'll be spending a good portion of my weekend playing some Diablo II (forgot to bring that much needed "play disc" with me to Vegas) and maybe a few games of Rumble Roses just for shits and jiggles. I'll also spend tonight detoxing, as I'm off the sauce in an attempt to recover from nearly a week long streak of expensive drinking.

Live Arcade Gonna Get Go?

Could the classic board game Go be coming to Xbox Live Arcade? Well I suppose that all depends on how the hunt for a programmer goes. Someone on the Eurogamer forums unearthed a job listing on JobServe.com for a programmer to work on the game. C++ Developer - Xbox 360 games. Experience of C/C++ programming. Development on at least one game title and a working knowledge of 2D graphics, 3D graphics, DirectX, networking and Xbox/Xbox 360.

Chess is a game you can teach a monkey to beat a profesional player at.

Go is a game a super computer has problems beating a low level player at.

As long as they make Go on Live Arcade multi-player, I'll be happy.
Right now I'm happy just to hear Ultimate Brain Games will get Go with multi-player.

Get Crazy, With Crazy Taxi For PSP

First Metal Gear Portable Ops and now this. Must-have PSP games are starting to trickle out! Sega announced Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars. The game uses maps from the arcade version and the Dreamcast one along with Crazy Taxi 2's Small Apple maps. The PSP version will have an Arcade mode (earn bonuses by fast delivery) and Time Trial mode (collect highest fares in alloted time). What's more, there are two mini-games and ad-hoc multiplayer. Schweet!

I'll wait and see how the controls work first.
Until then, let's have some crazy fun on the Dreamcast.

SCEA: We Dominated December

The thing about numbers is that there are tons of ways to look at them. Take for instance The NPD Group's official numbers for video game console sales in the U.S. You could say that Microsoft is winning, you could say Nintendo is winning, or you could say Sony is winning. I can honestly say I can see where all three companies are coming from. But since I've only heard officially from Sony so far, this is their moment in the sun.

Good job, now fix your faulty stocks!

Apple iPhone Not Developer Friendly

Despite all of the noise about the amazing potential that a touchscreen pocket computer with all sorts of fancy sensors could have as a gaming device, the truth of the matter is that like everything Apple, the iPhone is likely not going to be very game friendly. That is because Apple wants to keep tight control over everything that goes on to their platform. Shocker!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't they just add widgets to the things?

Now of course it won't be a game machine, it's not supposed to be outside of the wishes of a select few.

The technology in the thing, future versions, any deals made with other companies and Apple though, then sure, why not.
