And, According to Some Dude, The Noisiest Console Is...

" class="SidebarImage" border="0" /> Xbox 360, PS3 or the Wii. Quick, which is noisier? Nope. Not according to an unverified study that the PreGame Lobby conducted with an analog SPL meter from Radio Shack. To get the base dB output, each console was first tested running with games. Next, games were played off the hard drive to see if there was a noticeable sound difference. And finally, software was inserted into each machine, and the sound levels were recorded.

my 360 is noisy when playing a game disc, but surprisingly silent when a DVD is in there (perhaps it doesn't spin as fast)

Sizemodo: The 108-inch TV

If you're thinking about rounding up your own Ocean's 13 posse to break into CES and steal the 108-inch TV, you should probably know how big it is. Here's a Sizemodo so you know just how large of a truck you'll have to commandeer to fit Sharp's fattest baby on board.

Women's Health Suggests Couple's Gaming

If you're a guy and have a girlfriend who you're trying to get into gaming, I'd highly recommend picking up a copy of the January/February Women's Health magazine. Inside you'll find an article entitled "Grab the Joystick: Toy with your man in the virtual world", which you can leave sitting around somewhere (not the bathroom, that's our place) where she'll find it. The message couldn't be any clearer."

But what if, in the virtual world, the man likes to be a woman?

And Ashcraft's Japanese 360 Craps Out...

A little over a year ago when the Xbox 360 launched, there were reports of buggy consoles. I had no probs whatsoever. That is, until recently. One of few sold on Japan's launch day, my Xbox 360 is a rarity. And it's now crapped out. Things started in late December, during a game of Blue Dragon. The game froze up. Isolated incident, so I wrote it off. But then the freezing came in shorter intervals. First every hour, then every thirty minutes, and now every ten minutes.

my US launch day unit has lived in a cabinet stand since day 1, never any problems.

Canon's New Consumer Camcorders

Canon announced their entire new consumer camcorder line before CES, the DC50, DC200 Series and the ZR Series The DC50 is Canon's flagship consumer model, which will tell you that their entire lineup is a pretty sad state of affairs. It records direct to DVD and can take hi-res stills with its 5.39 Megapixel CCD Image Sensor stored on miniSD. Video captures through the DIGIC DV II image processor and10x optical zoom shoots steady through Super Range Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

Doesn't the new ZR series store on Secure Digital cards (practically a hard drive medium)?

CES 2007: Dash Teams With Yahoo! For Improved Navigation

Dash Navigation, makers of internet-connected GPS devices, are teaming up with Yahoo to add search results to their directions. Dash, if you weren't aware, provides multiple routes to your destination weighted on historical road traffic data and info from other two-way connected Dash devices in order to get you where you're going faster. With Yahoo, Dash users can search for Thai food, movie theaters, or various other things people search for already.

Does that image say the car is in San Jose (usually the arrow is your location and heading)?

Uniea Silicone MacBook Keyboard Protectors

If the silicone iPod nano cases didn't completely fill your need for fake rubbery goodness, iShoppo also has the Uniea MacBook keyboard protectors. These protectors also come in a variety of colors and sizes to protect the MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards. They are available in a few different colors that definitely won't match the rest of your laptop (except the clear one). $20.

Do mac notebooks still leave a keyboard imprint on the LCD over time? If so, wouldn't a skin make it worse?

Animal Crossing Wii Hinted At

I'm the type of guy who likes to sit through movie credits, ignoring the desperate pleas of whomever I am with as I scan for names, funny bits, and important messages about cutesy cartoon animal video games. I would have been in luck after watching the Japanese Animal Crossing movie.According to Nintendo-Inside.jp and the electronic version of Kyoto Shinbun after the credits have rolled on the new Animal Crossing a message comes up as follows: "Let's meet in Wii" Unless...

What? I just bought the GC AC to play on my Wii.

The Kicking Game

That's Brian Lam from big brother site Gizmodo. In from San Francisco, he's been wondering the Tokyo streets (and arcades), looking for crap to beat up. He found it with Champion Kick. The object: Kick the foam sensor HARD. Gotta love the no frills straight-to-the-point game play.

Why do I have the Vanilla Ice song "Ice Ice Baby" in my head as I imagine myself playing this?

PS3 For Car Disney World Car Ad

To get my fill of Americana (and fat people), I hit Disneyworld with the fam while I was recently back in the States. Grabbed lunch with Alice, who spotted this in the Animal Kingdom parking lot: Someone advertising 20GB and 60GB PLAYSTATION 3s for sale and trying to make the happiest place on earth that much happier. Or something like that. The "Not In Car" bit is classic!

So presumably the PS3s are back at the family home in Georgia?
