On Boxing Day (that would be the day after Christmas to all of us Yanks) Prime Minister Tony Blair flew out to Florida with his family for a week-long holiday at the Miami Beach home of the Bee Gees Robin Gibb.
As if the pricey vacation wasn't scandalous enough, his wife Cheri Blair was then spotted lugging around a brand new Playstation 3, the console that even John Edwards couldn't land.
Hit the jump for a less flattering shot of the backside... of the Playstation 3.
The End.
[Thanks ukmountie for the tip]
This would be one of them import dealies then?
The ones that we're not supposed to have over here.
The ones they don't want us to buy because we're not paying UK tax on it.
The UK tax that is paying Tony's wages?
uh-huh...
ewwwwwww! A big bloated PS3? Tony Blair should trade that in for a much more slimmer and flattering Wii. I mean really who wants to be caught outside with that.
Whats also scandalous is the limits the British government imposes on holiday-goers with respect to the value of goods they are allowed to bring back with them; I'm willing to bet Blair's PS3 more than exceeded the paltry amount allowed! Still its only a PS3, nothing worth getting upset over!
That pic was disgusting.
In other news, I just successfully cast Blizzaga on the Denver metro area. Boo-yah!
If more heads of state ended up receiving PS3s, maybe entire countries could be spared from playing Genji 2.
I thought Sony put HIGHLY PREGNANT women out of work for attempting to sell non-European designated PS3s to citizens of the country... I wonder what they'll do to persons who actually leave the country and bring one back in?
So how are they going to play UK region games on their US region PS3?
>>Darsikde: Not if they're using an HDTV (and I'm sure they have the money for it). HD standards are international, the whole PAL/NTSC thing only applies to standard def TVs.
I feel so dirty... if you excuse me, i´ll be burning my clothes and popping my eyes out.
I really dont see what the big deal is? He took a family vacation (which is paid out of his own pocket, after the bitching last time) and they bought a PS3. So what, get over it already
Haha! Excellent!
Well, if Tony Blair (or his wife) says it's alright to import PS3, then Sony shouldn't have a case in restricting PS3s into the country for everyone else, really! Unless they want to take our PM to court of course!
Word has it that Cherie was the woman looking to score a Wii for her "child" in exchange for favors.
She didn't take it to 'completion' and wound up with a PS3 instead.

Right, I want to see Sony sue Blair right now. This is clearly an infringement of the case law established when Sony shut Lik-Sang down, and I want to see our corrupt, war warmongering excuse for a prime minister get caught at least once for all the illegal things he's done while in office, even if it is just for a PS3.
Sony, here's a promise: I promise to be good and wait till next September for the Euro PS3 launch (let's face it, you're never going to make enough for a March launch) if you promise to sue Blair for me.
"the whole PAL/NTSC thing only applies to standard def TVs"
I think a lot of UK standard def TVs handle both PAL and NTSC anyway.
I bet she's just thinking "This thing will land me a fortune on eBay!", hehehehhehe little does she know.
And damn you with your pictures! *Throws up*
I'm guessing that not many people here are familiar with the female anatomy if they are honestly disturbed by nothing more than the legs of an average middle aged woman.
Yeah, like Y'all date nothing but perfectly formed supermodels, inbetween bouts of WoW ?
Robin Gibb is allowed near the PM and small children? Things have certainly gone to hell in Florida since Kitty Harris lost the election.
That second picture makes that annoying picture of that dude in Intel Core2 Duo ad tolerable.
OMG
that was.. just uncalled for Kotaku... that was the horriblist picture I've seen in a LONG TIME
even more than that one kid that tried putting his head out of the car, ended up falling out and smashing his face into a parked car's bumper O___O
She and the PS3 make a good couple, neither one can complain about each other's weight.
PhotoBoy,
From what I understand, Tony Blair is not getting this console to sell overseas, merely to use it overseas. I am sure that Sony is not okay with this, but it is far different from a company that is selling these items to overseas users.
Honestly, with all of the things that our leaders do that honestly should be considered scandalous, buying a game system is trivial.
What's your source? That might not even be Cherie Blair.
Not that I like those two anyway (not her arse, her and Tony) - I'm Tory anyway.
It's a good point if it is true though - Heads of state are able to get their hands on stuff that the manufacturers don't allow to be imported here at all (but ya know, it's fine if the importer is chums with the prez).
Out of interest, due to Customs and Exise, they wouldn't even be able to import a Wii if they bought it in a bundle with a game.
man, my tax is going towards that ps3, i bess have soom game time...wiht the ps3..... Mr. Blair
Auz - Yeah pretty much all recentish TVs (I don't know exactly but most likely all TV's made in the last five years, if not longer) will handle NTSC and PAL fine if set up correctly.
Collins - I'd say the photo's were probably taken by papparazzi, I'd say they've probably been followed by cameras since they landed so it's got a good likelyhood of being true.
Oh yes, customs do suck ass. Thankfully the console I really wanted was not delayed until March and is sitting in my house right now. If you'll excuse me it's Zelda time.
Please, do us Brits all a favour and keep him. We don't want him back. Honest.
Oh and, Nexus Zero, your comment was just delicious. I hear Stewie Griffin. Maybe that's just me.
