What Are You Playing This Weekend?

My cheapass copy of Every Extend Extra was unceremoniously tossed on my doorstep by the mailman moments ago, a soft thud I'm glad I heard, as one of the local stray pit bulls or dirty transients could easily have made off with it. Maybe that Gamestop "value" shipping also includes a half-assed drop off from the mail carrier, I don't know.

I'll be having some arcade fun with PS2's Gundam SeeD Destiny: Rengou vs ZAFT 2 Plus. :P

Nintendo Recalls Japanese DS AC Adapters

The Associated Press reports today that Nintendo announced the recall of 200,000 AC adapters for the DS and DS Lite portables in Japan. The recall does not affect adapters overseas. Uh, oh. I hope Ashcraft didn't leave his Pink DS Lite plugged in when he went on vacation.

Oh, Nintendo is always about high quality stuff!
Oh wait... :P

Wii Freeloader On The Way

Region-locking a console sucks. Paying a nominal fee for a disc that circumvents said region-locking is sweet. Which is why I love the Freeloader. As a PAL gamer, it made owning a GameCube just that little bit more tolerable. And now that Datel have announced they're working on a Wii version, I love them even more. No word on ETA or price, or even how it'll work, but it'll be "soon", apparently.

Nice! This si great news, we'll finally get to play de game that only japan gets! Can't wait! :D

Oh, and if they block it with firmware updates, I'm totally in favor of the crossbones and the skull like Fozzibab said! ;P

AP: Nintendo "Recalls" 3.2 Million Wii Straps

Looks like Nintendo, while a bit slow to react, is taking the classy way out of their flimsy Wii strap fiasco. After staying mum on the issue since launch, the publisher finally admitted they had an issue to the Associated Press and then announced that they are replacing Wii straps for those who would like the peace of mind of knowing that when they play Wii Sports they won't be caving in the front of their $3,000 plasma screen.

And then, Wiitards all around the world rejoice. and shout: "I wasn't our fault, we waved the control like retards but truth is that it is the strap's fault!! Nintendo just confirmed it changing the straps!!" :P

Power to the Wiitard, i say! LOL! XD

Gallery: F1 Championship Edition

Looking at screens of F1 Championship Edition for the PlayStation 3 gives me the feeling of looking at a real Formula One car. Oh, by no means am I saying that this game is photorealistic. But it's sleek, shiny, and I know I'll never ever touch it. I require a little more futuristic hovercar in my driving games.

Man, this si really impressive. The cars look exactly like the their real counter-parts and they are even detailing the pilot's helmets. I also really like the shot that shows the driving panel of Button's Honda, it's amazing with lots of details. Finally a game besides MGS4 that I'm looking forward to. :P

Online Pokemon Battle Rev Clip

I have a confession to make. I'm a Pokemon fan. Not a big enough fan to bother to add the accent to the word, but a fan nonetheless. During my first stint at web game writing back in 1999, I even conceived the Pokenomicron. Pokemon Snap remains to this day one of my favorite games to relax with, and I once drove from Georgia to Texas with a Pikachu strapped to the front of my U-Haul.

Maybe Pokemon would be more interesting if the monsters had actually different attacks. All the pokemos from the same type have the SAME attack, they just look different from each other.

Sony: 2 Million PS3s By Year's End, UK ASAP

Three days ago Sony Computer of America's David Karraker assured the world that the have fixed all Playstation 3 manufacturing problems and that the company remains focused on getting 1 million PS3s to stores by the end of the year. Today Sony Corp's President, Ryoji Chubachi, reaffirmed that, saying that Sony is sticking to its target of shipping 2 million PS3s by the end of the year. "It's true that availability has been a bottleneck," Chubachi said of the PlayStation 3.

Does anyone actually still believes Sony? :P
It's easier to believe in Forrest Gump you know.

Microsoft Talks Blue Dragon, Winning Over Japan

Face it Japan, Microsoft is not going to give up. And the recent release of Blue Dragon is just fueling the fire. Sure, it's not getting Dragon Quest launch numbers (or even Love and Berry DS), but it's a start. A solid one at that! Earlier this week, we had an opportunity to pick the brain of Microsoft's Hees Kyung, the Global Product Manager for Blue Dragon. What did we learn? Even after a rocky first year for the 360 in Japan, Microsoft is not backing down.

Psychotest: Oh, I completely forogt about Culdcept Saga, Far East of Eden Ziria and Super Robot Taisen XO (it's a shame this is a SRT GC remake). Now, Infinite Undiscovery, Diario: Reverse Moon Legend are new games to me. I don't even remember hearing about them. I'll try to find more info about them. :D

Psychotext: I can't recall other J RPG coming for the 360 (that is not from Mistwalker) other than Trusty Bell. Certainly there are american RPGs coming, but they usually aren't a hit in Japan.

Megamaster:
English isn't my first language, as it can be easily noticed. Putting my subpar rushed English skills aside, I was talking about RPG developers more especifically. Tri-Crescendo surely is good and working on Trusty Bell. Square-Enix did a port from FFXI wich is a PC game, so nothing impressive and they didn't announce another game for the 360 since then (at least I don't recall any). Sega makes good games, but their RPG franchises are not the bockbusters that they used to be in the past.
Tecmo/Team Ninja have popular japanese franchises but they didn't drive as many 360 sales a Blue Dragon.
And finally Capcom, certainly they're making awesome games like Dead Rising and Lost Planet, but they're games developed with the Western audience in mind. The only game annouced from them that we know that will appeal to the japanese market is the RE5.

Guitar Hero Benches Tigers Pitcher

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Joel Zumaya missed three games of the American League Championship Series thanks inflammation of the forearm and right wrist, something everyone assumed was brought on by his pitches. But it turns out that like yours truly, Zumaya is a Guitar Hero addict and the prolonged gaming was what actually brought on the injury.

I love how World Series is West Coast winner vs East Coast winner. I mean, it's such a global tournament, with teams from all over the world.

Oh, wait.
