Live Arcade Gonna Get Go?

Could the classic board game Go be coming to Xbox Live Arcade? Well I suppose that all depends on how the hunt for a programmer goes. Someone on the Eurogamer forums unearthed a job listing on JobServe.com for a programmer to work on the game. C++ Developer - Xbox 360 games. Experience of C/C++ programming. Development on at least one game title and a working knowledge of 2D graphics, 3D graphics, DirectX, networking and Xbox/Xbox 360.

"How do you get a game programming job without the 1 game experience?"

Could have something to do with it's an arcade title instead of a full 40 hour game. Granted, GO isn't exactly something a person with a few years of classes can just jump into, but since XNA and everything, it's obviously a little less cumbersome to do the arcade games than the full titles.

On the other hand, I don't know a single person who knows how to play Go in the first place. Let's try Othello/Reversi first maybe?

The Dark Portal Opens at Midnight

Blizzard obviously doesn't want World of Warcraft players to get any sleep Monday night / Tuesday morning. At first the midnight releases seemed a little odd, seeing as we were assuming the servers would be down Tuesday morning as per usual, but Bliz has announced that instead of having patch Tuesday next week they'll be updating the servers on Monday with rolling restarts and downtimes of around 30 minutes. Once midnight server time hits you'll be good to go.

FOREVER QUELTHALAS!

Luckily they moved back the Weekly Maitenence to Monday morning that week.

Apple iPhone Not Developer Friendly

Despite all of the noise about the amazing potential that a touchscreen pocket computer with all sorts of fancy sensors could have as a gaming device, the truth of the matter is that like everything Apple, the iPhone is likely not going to be very game friendly. That is because Apple wants to keep tight control over everything that goes on to their platform. Shocker!

"But then, Apple products are not geared towards a demographic that _think_ before they make a purchase."

Apple products aren't geared to people who think in general. Hence the extremely Pre-school level of usability in their OS.

Apple's Steve Jobs "Trash-Talks" PSP

So, the iPhone is coming. If you are American, soon. For those living in other countries (like me), you'll have to wait longer (like me). The phone's portable game possibilities once again stir up talk of Apple expanding further into the market. Apple honcho Steve Jobs seems to be adding his two cents as well. From Time: All technologists believe their products are better than other people's, or at least they say they do, but Jobs believes it a little more than most.

Buy the Apple iCrap. It sits there and doesn't do anything. $3499.99

"Windows Vista ("It's just a copy of an old version of Mac OSX") "

Sorry there Stevie, but I have yet to see an Apple OS that has a fraction of the functionality that Windows has. Which do I want more on a computer? Games and the stuff to get what I need done DONE or Flashy eye-candy that is worthless to anyone over the age of 10?

I think Steve's just sore that Microsoft beat them to the punch on a GUI based OS.

Harrison On PSP Strategy: We Haven't Yet Delivered

Back when the PSP launched, most thought it was gonna kill Nintendo's chunky DS. It didn't, and somewhere along the line, things went kaput. But, what exactly? Sony made a super slick product. Sony's Phil Harrison tells MTV: Our achievement has been to deliver console-quality gaming in the palm of your hand.

All that you've said may be true, but I pose this question to you: Can you watch pr0n on a DS?

More Genesis Classics for Wii VC

How I long for the good old days of SEGA. Back before next-gen Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and just about anything hedgehoggy lately that isn't on a Nintendo handheld. Those days may be gone, but the games live on thanks to this gen's love affair with grave robbing. SEGA has announced five new titles for the Wii Virtual Console.

Anyone notice how the Worthwhile to Crap ratio on the Virtual Console is about the same to that of actually Wii titles? I guess at Nintendo, the Revolution will be Boring & Overpriced.

Rumor Watch: Apple Gaming

Steve Jobs will be taking to the stage at Macworld 2007 any second now. We know he's going to be talking about the company's new phone, according to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, but there's been a presistent rumor that he's also going to be talking about gaming. Specifically, what I've heard is that Apple want to rev up their casual game production for both the iPod and the new phone. Makes sense. Is it real? We'll find out in the next 30 minutes or so.

"On another note, is it me or is that Apple TV thing a complete ripoff of the Xbox 360's media streaming functions?"

Even worse is, an extra vga/dvi port and a vga/dvi to s-video port pretty much does the same thing (Granted, no HDMI - but I don't have an HD TV so that isn't going to do me any good).

$600 for a PHONE?! And that's not even with a service plan! I regret calling Apple people Zealots! If they buy this, they're just plan MAD!

So when Sony tries to Trojan Horse BluRay in the PS3 it's evil, but when Apple tries to Trojan Horse their OS on a phone it's neat?

I'm just waiting for the "And it only works with Mac hardware!" announcement.

The Descent Blu-ray Watchable on PS3 Only

It looks like Blu-ray still fresh off the production line, is already starting to run into format issues. Movie The Descent on Blu-ray is only playable right now on the Blu-ray player packed into the Playstation 3, 1Up reports. The problem lies in the BD-Java technology that Lions Gate Entertainment used for the movie's extras. The version they packed in isn't supported by Sony's BDP-S1 or Pioneer's Elite players.

Now maybe they'll listen to my other suggestion and only produce Sony Pictures (and related/owned film companies) movies ONLY on Blu-Ray. Sure, that's horrific and cruel, but I bet it'll get more people to commit than it is now. Specially with Spiderman 3 coming out.
