Chiefs Game at San Diego Moved to Sunday Night at 7:15 PM (CST)

The National Football League officially announced on Monday that Kansas City’s game at San Diego on Sunday has been moved to a 7:15 PM (Central) kickoff as part of the league’s “flexible scheduling” policy and will be broadcast nationally by NBC. The game had previously been slated to kick off at 3:05 PM (Central) on CBS. The Chiefs-Chargers game will now be broadcast locally in Kansas City on KSHB-TV (NBC 41).

Chiefs fans who may have purchased tickets to attend the game in San Diego are strongly encouraged to double check all of their travel arrangements and accommodations since the Chargers have a non-refundable ticket policy.

Kansas City’s game with the Chargers will mark the first time the Chiefs have played a prime time game in San Diego. The Chiefs haven’t played in a game broadcast by NBC since facing Denver in an AFC Divisional Playoff Game at Arrowhead (1/4/98).

For the 2006 season, flexible scheduling will occur in Weeks 10-15 and Week 17. Week 16 is a holiday weekend and will not be subject to flexible scheduling. Twelve days prior to the scheduled Sunday games in each flex week, the NFL decides (after consultation with CBS, FOX and NBC) and announces the game being moved to 7:15 PM (Central) and also may announce games moving to 3:15 PM (Central). For the Week 17 games, the decision may be made on six days notice to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications.
