According to Bloomberg, Walt Disney Co. is dedicating a new development
studio called Fall Line to create software exclusively for Nintendo
platforms, including Wii.
Fall Line, based in Salt Lake City,
Utah, intends to target audiences attracted to Disney's animated
characters. The studio is headed by Scott Novis, who led the
development team that produced the video game based on Pixar's movie
Cars. Fall Line is the fourth game development company Disney has
started (or bought) in the last 19 months, and already employs 600
individuals.
"It seems like with our brand, the Nintendo
platform is a really good place to put our development effort and
focus,'' Novis said.
Buena Vista Games, another studio owned by
Disney, has two titles currently in development for Wii: Meet the
Robinsons and Chicken Little: Ace in Action, the latter slated for the
console's launch.
