For those of you not in the know, a speedrun is the act of a player attempting to complete a videogame (or a portion of a game) as quickly as possible. Players doing speedruns will usually use tricks or exploit parts of the games mechanics (without using cheats) to achieve seemingly impossible fast times.

With that in mind, lets introduce David Rickard - A speedrunner who practically flies through the entire of Half-Life (on Hard Mode) in a record 45 minutes and 45 seconds. Wow!

Rickard’s speedrun was recorded in 21 seperate segments, The fastest time Half-Life has been beaten in one sitting is 1 hour and 45 seconds by Blake Piepho.

Watch the full video of the run below, then head over to the speed demos archive where David gives us a full write-up of his run and even offers some tips on how his run can be improved upon by anyone brave enough to attempt it.
