General Driving Directions

From Northeastern Areas
From I-95 South, follow Exit 22 for I-676 West (Vine Street Expressway). Follow I-676 to exit for I-76 East, International Airport. Follow I-76 East to Exit 346A, South Street (exit from the left lane). Turn right at the light onto South St., then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From the West
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 326 (old exit 24), Valley Forge. Take I-76 East approximately 17 miles to Exit 346A, South St. (exit from the left lane). Turn right onto South St., then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From the North
Take I-476 South to Exit 20 (old exit 25A), Mid-County. After toll, continue south on I-476 to Exit 16A for I-76 East, Schuylkill Expressway-Philadelphia. Follow I-76 East for approximately 17 miles to Exit 346A , South St. (exit from the left lane). Turn right on to South St., then left at the third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From the South
Take I-95 North to Exit 13, I-76 West - Valley Forge. Merge right to exit for Center City. Cross the bridge and turn left at the light to I-76 West. Follow I-76 West to Exit 346A, South St. (exit from left lane). Turn left onto South St., then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From New Jersey
Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 3, then the Black Horse Pike (Rte. 168 North) for one mile to I-295 South. Go one mile to Exit 26 , I-76 West to the Walt Whitman Bridge. Cross the Bridge onto I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) to Exit 346A, South St. (exit from left lane). Turn left onto South St., then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

Alternate Route from New Jersey and Points East
Take the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to 676 West (Vine St. Expressway). Follow I-676 to exit for I-76 East, International Airport. Follow I-76 East to Exit 346A, South Street (exit from the left lane). Turn right onto South St. then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. From Montgomery County
Take I-76 East to Exit 346A, South St. (exit from the left lane). Turn right onto South St., then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From West of Philadelphia
Travel east on Chestnut or Spruce St. to 34th St. Turn right onto 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From Center City
Travel west on Market or Walnut St. to 34th St. Turn left on 34th St. and cross Spruce St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

From Northeast Philadelphia
Take Roosevelt Blvd. to I-76 East. Take I-76 East to Exit 346A, South St. (exit from the left lane). Turn right onto South St., then left at third traffic light, 34th St. Parking for the Main Hospital is on your right, just past the entrance for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For parking in the Wood Center garage, continue past the Hospital and turn right onto Osler Circle, go straight at the stop sign, then right into garage.

Public Transportation

AMTRAK
Northeast corridor AMTRAK trains stop at 30th Street Station. See SEPTA Regional Rail Lines SEPTA Regional Rail Lines or SEPTA City Transit for information on traveling to the Hospital from 30th Street Station. Taxi service also is available at 30th Street Station.

SEPTA Regional Rail Lines
The R1 Airport, R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington, R3 Media-Elwyn and most Glenside-Jenkintown, R2 Warminster and R3 West Trenton trains provide direct service to the University City Station. From other Regional Rail lines, transfer free to the R1, R2, or R3 at 30th Street or Market East stations. Your train ticket is your transfer.

SEPTA City Trains and Trolleys
The SEPTA Market/Frankford Blue Line (the elevated train/subway) stops at 34th and Market Sts. A 10-minute walk south on 34th Street or a 5-minute ride on the LUCY Shuttle takes you to the Hospital.

All SEPTA Subway/Surface Green Line trolleys, except for the 10 trolley, stop underground at University Station (37th and Spruce) and Sansom Street station.

New Jersey PATCO Trains
Take the PATCO line to 8th and Market streets. Follow the underground concourse to the SEPTA Market East station. From there, the R1 Airport, R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington, and R3 Media-Elwyn Regional Rail lines provide direct service to the University City Station. Or you may transfer from PATCO at 8th and Market streets to the SEPTA Market/Frankford Blue Line (the elevated train/subway). Take the westbound train to 34th and Market streets. A 10-minute walk south on 34th Street takes you to the Hospital.

Greyhound Bus Lines
From the Greyhound Bus Station at 10th and Filbert streets, walk to the Market East Station at 11th and Market streets. From there, take the R1 Airport, R2 Marcus Hook-Wilmington, or R3 Media-Elwyn Regional Rail line to the University City Station. A taxi ride from the Greyhound Bus station costs about $12.
