Nintendo Australia, established in 1994, is the local head office for the worldwide
leader in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co., Ltd of Kyoto, Japan.
To date, Nintendo has sold more than 1.4 billion video games worldwide, created such industry icons as
Mario®
and Donkey Kong and launched franchises like The Legend of Zelda® and Pokémon. Nintendo manufactures and
markets hardware and software for its popular home video game systems, including the Nintendo 64,
NINTENDO GAMECUBE, Game Boy Advance and
Game Boy - the Worlds best-selling video game system which has sold over 120 million units.
Nintendo Australia has sold over 12 million video games, over 2.5 million Game Boys and over 1 million consoles
to date. Nintendo Australia has also sold over 2 million Pokémon video games alone, since their launch on
Game Boy in Australia over 3 years ago.
Nintendo Australia is an active and longstanding sponsor of the Starlight
Childrens Foundation, providing Nintendo consoles and games that can be wheeled to a childs bedside
while they are in hospital. Nintendo characters and games gurus also visit childrens hospitals nationally.
Nintendo also donates product
to various sporting, leisure, not-for-profit and youth organisations nationally. We also have a team of Nintendo
games gurus that support various events and organisations across the country, by staging Nintendo challenges.
Each year Nintendo also stages free national tours involving live character appearances, stage shows, Nintendo
challenges, product giveaways and competitions. To date Nintendos Pokémon Tours have been the
countrys biggest free, shopping centre activities ever, including Pokémon Mew Tour in 1999,
Pokémon Stadium 2000 and Pokémon Celebi Tour in 2001. Nintendo Australia also hosted the worlds
biggest Pokémon event in Sydney in 2000, including the global Pokémon Stadium Championship.
