Hello to all of our wonderful readers and commenters! If you've been around News Hounds for a while you know that we have 4 big fund raising times a year. For every season there is a donation drive.

We can't thank you all enough for your support and for our growth. To keep us going, however, does require funds. We had a very successful spring donation drive and we'd like to give special thanks going to ET for her organization of thel NH Con which raised money for our site. Broken News - CIA bin Laden unit shut down

FOXNews.com is reporting that the New York Times reported that National Public Radio reported that the CIA has shut down the unit known as "Alec Station", tasked with finding Osama bin Laden. Unnamed intelligence officials "told the Times that the change reflects a view that al-Qaida's hierarchy has changed, and terrorist attacks inspired by the group are now being carried out independently of bin Laden and his second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri."

Sen. Ted Stevens: First It's a Bridge to Nowhere. Now It's the Internets.

After virtually ignoring the New York Times terror financing story last week, the Cost of Freedom shows took it up this week with a vengeance. The following quotes from the July 1, 2006 airing of Forbes on FOX represents an accurate picture of FOX's unique approach to finance, i.e., ignore economics and discuss politics instead. Apparently, on FOX the mere mention of the word "market" qualifies a segment as "financial" news. We News Hounds prefer to call it what it is - Republican propaganda!

Just Plain Stupid & Partisan Remaks & A Gratuitous Sex Photo Op On Fox News Live

On Fox News Live today (12 - 1 p.m.) with Bob Sellers substituting for Bill Hemmer, he seemed to not be able to contain himself as to the ridiculous and partisan remarks coming out of his mouth.

In a segment on how impossible it was going to be for Democrats to win in 2008, he said, "You look at things that the Democrats, Democrats really don't define themselves other than not Bush."

But he didn't stop there, he had more.

Cavuto Praises Wal-Mart, Dumps on Buffett and Gates

Neil Cavuto must own a ton of Wal-Mart stock. Why else does he continue to air segments about how wonderful the company is, regardless of whether anything is happening with the company? And why does he hate Warren Buffett and Bill Gates?

New York Post Confirms Ann Coulter Is A Plagiarist

An article in yesterday's New York Post confirms what we have been reporting here (via Raw Story and Rude Pundit) for several weeks: that Ann Coulter plagiarized sections of her new book. In fact, the Post article also found "patterns of cribbing" in Coulter's Universal Press columns over the past 12 months.

Sean Hannity Asks And Answers His Own Questions To Discredited Schiavo Nurse

Friday night (6/30/06), Sean Hannity really went to bat for his former guest, Carla Sauer-Iyer, on Hannity & Colmes. Sauer-Iyer is facing revocation of her nursing license as the result of statements she made on television about Terri Schiavo’s condition. The judge in the Schiavo case called Sauer-Iyer’s claims that Schiavo was alert and able to interact with others “incredible to say the least.” But Hannity, who seems to believe that his background as a talk show host trumps the legal education and experience of most judges, not only believed Sauer-Iyer, he coached her for her television appearances against Alan Colmes last year. Friday night, Hannity went a step further. He answered his own questions on her behalf.

Just when you think that Fox News can’t get any worse than John Gibson’s Big Story, you watch Heartland and your realize that it truly can. After discussing the new OBL audiotape yesterday 7/1/06 (comment: be very afraid) host John Kasich interviewed Steve Emerson, author of American Jihad, the Terrorists Living Among Us. This book received rave reviews on Amazon but the author, a so-called “terrorism expert,” has questionable credentials (and a little paranoia) according to Wikepedia.

Israel Bombing Palestinian Targets

BREAKING NEWS: As I was posting this article, FOX News announced at Israel has bombed the Palestinian Prime Minister's office building, which is now on fire. Mike Tobin from Gaza just reported that "the Israelis are picking off targets at will."

This morning on Fox & Friends Weekend host Kiran Chetry reported: "It all seemed to go downhill when Hamas actually won the democratic election that was held there in the Palestinian territories. Hamas - responsible for killing more than 250 Israelis in suicide bomb attacks. A terror group - called a terror group worldwide - is now the people in charge over there and so, of course, that was gonna cause problems with Israel and now Israel is saying that, if this prisoner - Israeli soldier - is not returned, that they will assassinate the Prime Minister."

Two years ago today News Hounds was launched with much uncertainty about how we would be recieved in the the blogosphere. We never imagined our blog would prosper this much in two years and we're very grateful for the support recieved during this journey.

Thanks to all our readers and commenters for adding so much life and texture to News Hounds. Your comments have enlightened, amused and sometimes infuriated us but we've appreciated all of them. Two years ago we never could have imagined that our readers would form such a wonderful community.

Our gratitude to Jim Gilliam is boundless. No matter when we ask for help, Jim is there for us within minutes and somehow he always solves our problems. Jim, we so appreciate all you do for us but mostly we appreciate you. You're rock solid, witty, unshockable, logical, kind, slightly crazy and totally lovable.

Most of all, we are grateful for the wonderful bonds that have formed within our group. Our commitment to News Hounds and each other continues to grow and we have become a true family. Hopefully we will continue working together in the future and maybe together we can make a difference.

FOX Slaps Wrists of Republicans Who Dropped Ball on Pledge Amendment

The FOX & Friends crew threw some on-air barbs in the direction of REPUBLICANS yesterday morning. Seems that so many of them were absent for the "Keep God in the Pledge of Allegiance" vote that the bill went down to defeat! FOX News and and the White House were not happy.

Impeachment Supporter Criticized By Both Hannity And Colmes

Berkeley, California City Councilman Gordon Wozniak appeared on Hannity & Colmes last night (6/30/06) to discuss Berkeley’s public referendum on impeachment. Alan Colmes and Sean Hannity formed a tag team of disapproval. Kudos to Councilman Wozniak, who just became our newest top dog, for keeping his cool and delivering his criticism of Bush despite both hosts’ efforts to stop him.

On this morning's FOX & Friends First host Alisyn Camerota asked one of the most penetrating and important questions ever heard on FOX News. The only problem? She didn't know it!

CAMEROTA: "When you watch TV, do you like watching a lightning rod personality like Star Jones? You love her. You hate her. She's always saying these sort of inflammatory things. Or, do you want to see somebody competent?"

UPDATE: Subsituting the name "Sean Hannity" or "Bill O'Reilly" for "Star Jones" helps a lot!

Fox Says "Superman Returns" is Anti-American

One of the segments featured on Your World w/Cavuto today (June 30, 2006) was captioned, "Will Anti-American Message in Superman Hurt Box Office?" Substitute host Stuart Varney promoted it several times beforehand using graphics that read, "Superman: Anti-American?"

The segment opened with a clip of the l950's, black-and-white, television-version of Superman in which the announcer said:

...[F]ights a never ending battle for truth, justice and the American way.

Brit Hume Misquoting John Kerry

Last night (6/29) on "Special Report with Brit Hume", Hume went old-school during his "Two Minutes of Hate" (AKA "Grapevine") segment and misquoted a statement made by Senator John Kerry in an attempt to make Democrats look foolish. Talk about so 2004.

A pre-recorded (yesterday, 6/28/06) and edited interview with John Kerry was shown in part on The O'Reilly Factor tonight 6/29/06. Kerry, who O'Reilly thinks will take another stab at the presidency in 2008, is now on the record with O'Reilly on Iran, immigration, and alternative energy. At the end of the interview "Factor holdouts" appeared on the screen above pictures of Jesse Jackson, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore .
