Your Laugh for the Day

Reported by Marie Therese - Fri 07:44 PM

On this morning's FOX & Friends First host Alisyn Camerota asked one of the most penetrating and important questions ever heard on FOX News. The only problem? She didn't know it!

CAMEROTA: "When you watch TV, do you like watching a lightning rod personality like Star Jones? You love her. You hate her. She's always saying these sort of inflammatory things. Or, do you want to see somebody competent?"

UPDATE: To those of our readers who seem not to grasp the meaning, subsitute the name "Sean Hannity" or "Bill O'Reilly" for "Star Jones" and you'll get the meaning.

Fox Says "Superman Returns" is Anti-American

Reported by Melanie - Fri 06:53 PM

One of the segments featured on Your World w/Cavuto today (June 30, 2006) was captioned, "Will Anti-American Message in Superman Hurt Box Office?" Substitute host Stuart Varney promoted it several times beforehand using graphics that read, "Superman: Anti-American?"

The segment opened with a clip of the l950's, black-and-white, television-version of Superman in which the announcer said:

...[F]ights a never ending battle for truth, justice and the American way.

Brit Hume Misquoting John Kerry

Reported by Janie - Fri 12:13 PM

Last night (6/29) on "Special Report with Brit Hume", Hume went old-school during his "Two Minutes of Hate" (AKA "Grapevine") segment and misquoted a statement made by Senator John Kerry in an attempt to make Democrats look foolish. Talk about so 2004.

John Kerry on The O'Reilly Factor

Reported by Chrish - Fri 04:34 AM

A pre-recorded (yesterday, 6/28/06) and edited interview with John Kerry was shown in part on The O'Reilly Factor tonight 6/29/06. Kerry, who O'Reilly thinks will take another stab at the presidency in 2008, is now on the record with O'Reilly on Iran, immigration, and alternative energy. At the end of the interview "Factor holdouts" appeared on the screen above pictures of Jesse Jackson, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore .

Does Any Democrat Who Fails To Confront Ann Coulter As A Fringe Whack-Job Deserve To Speak For The Party?

Reported by Ellen - Fri 01:06 AM

Possible felon and plagiarist Ann Coulter was back on Hannity & Colmes last night (6/29/06) with another poisonous rant, this one about public schools filled with teachers going on drinking binges. That was followed by her declaration that President Bush should ignore yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling barring Bush’s military tribunals. But a few minutes later, she squawked about the importance of the “rule of law.” There was more than enough material to completely discredit her but Democratic “strategist” and FOX News contributor Kirsten Powers found very little to argue about and even flattered and agreed with Coulter several times.

Why Is FOX News Going After Rep. Jim McDermott?

Reported by Marie Therese - Thu 11:49 PM

Jim McDermott is a nine-term Congressman from the 7th Congressional District in Washington State. He is an outspoken critic of the Bush administration and a prime target for the GOP in the upcoming election. McDermott backed a bill that would have amended No Child Left Behind to make it easier for parents to block military recruiters from gaining access to their high school-aged children. He is also an expert on military use of depleted uranium. But his real crime, in the eyes of the Christian right is that he omitted the words "under God" when leading the House in its daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance on April 26, 2004. So FOX News willingly booked guest terror expert, Olivier Guitta, to cast doubt on the Congressman by sliming a Middle Eastern graduate student who works with him.

Bill O'Reilly Is Really Upset About Rush Limbaugh

Reported by Deborah - Thu 09:58 PM

Bill O'Reilly is so concerned about Rush Limbaugh's recent brush with airport security in Palm Beach, he's had three segments about it on The Factor since the story broke.According to O'Reilly, Limbaugh is being persecuted by Palm Beach authorities who had no right to check his belongings at the airport after he returned from a foreign country. Isn't that a routine procedure known as customs? 6/29/06

"Big Story" viewers show their ignorance

Reported by Chrish - Thu 06:14 PM

The "Your Word" segment concluding The Big Story is a selection of emails received by viewers. Today 6/29/06 the viewers were almost unanimously against the Supreme Court ruling that told the Bush administration to adhere to the Geneva Conventions in treatment of Guantanamo Bay prisoners. Some of the remarks are stunning in their lack of understanding about basic civics, which leads one to wonder how these people maintain such a level of indignant ignorance. Perhaps Gibson's lead-in at the top of the hour gives us a clue: "A setback in the war on terror."

Judge Napolitano Steps Up Says Lindsay Graham Is Wrong On GITMO

Reported by Donna - Thu 04:09 PM

Today on Studio B with Shepard Smith, Senior Judical Analyst, Judge Andrew Napolitano went away from the typical Fox, 'play it down' defeat of Bush's stance on the prisoners at Guatanamo Bay.

While everyone is nuancing what was ruled, Smith asked Napolitano if Senator Lindsay Graham was right when he said that Congress could just have different military tribunals. Napolitano said he's sorry, but maybe Senator Graham didn't get to read the whole ruling and that 'No' they could not have different military tribunals, they had to have fair trials for these prisoners.

Hemmer Repeats : Bush Just Buying Time On GITMO Prisoners

Reported by Donna - Thu 01:54 PM

Fox News Live with Bill Hemmer (12 - 1 p.m.) covered the decision by Supreme Court that President Bush couldn't hold military tribunals for the prisoners at Guatanamo Bay.

Fox and Hemmer tried to ease the decision with Hemmer saying twice that Bush probably only did it because the war on terror is going to last a long time and he was buying time.

Breaking: Supreme Court says no to military tribunals for Guantanamo prisoners

Reported by Chrish - Thu 12:08 PM

From FOXNews.com:

" Gitmo War Crimes Trials Blocked - The Supreme Court delivered a blow to the Bush administration's anti-terror policies Thursday when it ruled that the president was out of line when he ordered military war-crimes trials for some Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the opinion, which said the proposed trials were illegal under U.S. law and Geneva conventions."

Stay tuned for the positive spin.

Special Report Continues Unfounded Assault on New York Times

Reported by Janie - Thu 11:39 AM

During last night's (6/28) "Special Report with Brit Hume", Hume once again went after the New York Times during his "Two Minutes of Hate" (AKA "Grapevine") segment, for its disclosure that the U.S. government is tracking financial records of terrorists (which Bush has revealed himself on numerous occasions since 9/11). According to Hume, this revelation has now hampered the effort to track terrorist data as a human rights group has challenged the program. Hume, however; didn't let a small thing like facts get in his way of berating the Times.

Your tax dollars at work - US House prepares to denounce NYTimes "and other papers"

Reported by Chrish - Thu 03:30 AM

The BS continued on the Big Story today 6/28/06 as FOX kept up the White House led indignation at the New York Times (but not the Wall Street Journal and LA Times, who were in a dead heat with the Times in releasing the story) for the report on the Bush administration's surveillance of international banking transactions. Republican Congressman Jack Kingston of Georgia ranted unopposed about the by now familiar talking points - this program was classified, now terrorists know we're watching financial transactions, and lives have been endangered. There was nobody on the BS to echo former CIA Agent Larry C. Johnson, who so eloquently stated what has been running through my head all day: " Bullshit alert!"

Former DOJ Official Victoria Toensing Can't Give A Straight Answer About How New York Times Compromised National Security

Reported by Ellen - Thu 12:44 AM

As FOX News continues to milk the New York Times story (and avoids discussing what the Bush administration did) about tracking bank records, Hannity & Colmes held another discussion last night with Victoria Toensing, former Department of Justice official about the Times’ alleged infraction of national security. But when pressed by Alan Colmes to explain just what sensitive information the Times revealed that might hamper a terrorism investigation, Toensing kept changing the subject and seemed unable to provide a straight answer.

Reported by Chrish - Wed 11:59 PM

Bill O'Reilly And Tony Snow Do PR For The White House

Reported by Deborah - Wed 10:18 PM

Last night Bill O'Reilly and Rich Lowry wanted some answers from Tony Snow about what the White House was planning to do to punish the New York Times for printing the money tracking story. Lowry sounded slightly peeved at Snow for condemning the New York Times yet saying that the newspaper would not be treated differently at the White House. O'Reilly, acting like the ultimate insider, assured Lowry that he would get the facts tonight when Snow appeared. Well, Snow appeared but he managed to say very little.

Neil Cavuto Plays Politics with Elie Wiesel and the Holocaust

Reported by Melanie - Wed 07:17 PM

Elie Wiesel, a survivor of Auschwitz and Buchenwald, a winner of the Nobel Prize for Peace, and a man who has spent his life combating indifference, intolerance and injustice, was a guest today (June 28, 2006) on Your World w/Cavuto. Wiesel, who lost his mother and a sister at Auschwitz and his father at Buchenwald, was on to talk about the Israeli hostages being held by Hamas and this week's growing tension between Israel and the Palestinians.

Reported by Judy - Wed 05:30 PM
