Studio B Adds Sobering Touch To All The Good News In Iraq

Reported by Donna - Thu 04:14 PM

With all the sparkling, great news coming out of Fox news these days it was a bit refreshing to hear a segment between Shepard Smith and Michael O'Hanlon, from the Brookings Institution, on Studio B about the situation in Iraq.

O'Hanlon said that it was good to keep things in perspective and he added that we needed to remember that the foregin fighters in Iraq comprised 10% of the insurgents, the other 90% were made up of Sunni Iraqis.

Fox News Helps Bush Do Damage Control After Coulter's Attack on 9/11 Families

Reported by Judy - Thu 03:56 PM

The mean side of conservatism demonstrated by suspected felon and possible plaigirst Ann Coulter's attack on 9/11 widows as people who were enjoying their husbands' deaths has the potential to rub off on the Bush administration, so Fox News Thursday (June 15, 2006) was busy helping the administration do damage control.

Iraqi Govt - Beginning Of End Of Al Qaeda In Iraq

Reported by Donna - Thu 01:13 PM

Fox News Live started off the show with the statement that the Iraqi Government had said that this was now the beginning of the end of Al Qaeda in Iraq.

The statement was a news statement that should have been reported, but Hemmer insisted on repeating the statement over and over again to guests throughout the show.

FOX News Starting To Blame Democrats For Problems In Iraq. John Murtha Is The GOP’s New Bill Clinton

Reported by Ellen - Thu 12:55 AM

It’s hard to believe that Republicans and their handmaidens in the media, FOX News, would have the audacity to blame Democrats and John Murtha for the problems in the Iraq war but that’s a pattern I’m seeing and I expect it to continue and intensify as we get closer to the elections. Perhaps because there’s no credible way to blame Clinton, Congressman John Murtha has become the new all-purpose GOP scapegoat. He was smeared during three different segments on last night’s (6/14/06) Hannity & Colmes.

FOX's Gibson STILL repeating misinformation: Valerie Plame responsible for sending husband Joe Wilson to Niger

Reported by Chrish - Thu 12:31 AM

In the My Word segment of The Big Story today 6/14/06, John Gibson says that Ambassador Joe Wilson is disappointed that Karl Rove won't be "frog-marched" out of the White House, referring to reports instigated by Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, that he will not be indicted in the outing of former CIA agent Valerie Plame.

More Allegations Of Plagiarism Against Ann Coulter

Reported by Ellen - Wed 09:39 PM

On Sunday, I posted about Rude Pundit's findings that Ann Coulter seems to have plagiarized portions of her new book. Now Rude Pundit and Raw Story have found numerous new examples of her "writings" which have remarkable similarities to material previously written by someone else. Add this to her other ethical challenges: allegations of voter fraud, tax fraud and seeming high as a kite during a Hannity & Colmes interview. This pathetic woman deserves to be shunned, not treated as any kind of serious pundit.

Why Did a Senior VP at Fox News Meet with the Government of Iran?

Reported by Melanie - Wed 08:03 PM

Neil Cavuto opened Your World today (June 14, 2006) with this teaser:

Thank you Shep. Now, I know you just talked to our own John Moody on that potentially stunning overture from Iran to the U.S. Now, reaction from National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley. What does he make of Iran offering to help us in Iraq? And, what does former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu make of all this? He's here. We'll ask him.

What? I couldn't wait to hear more.

Clinton Climbs in Polls But Fox News Fails to Notice

Reported by Judy - Wed 04:23 PM

Fox News is based in New York, but apparently its staff never bothers to read the New York newspapers to find out what's going in that state. As a poll showed Senator Hillary Clinton unbeatable right now in her bid for a second term in the U.S. Senate, Fox News' "Dayside" clowns on Wednesday (June 14, 2006) proclaimed that no one would vote for her.

Another Day, Another Dollar Earned Dishing Out Pro-Bush Pap

Reported by Marie Therese - Wed 04:03 PM

During yesterday morning's four-hour edition of FOX & Friends, the trio mostly covered tropical-storm-hyped-as-a-hurricane Alberto. Occasionally exuding what amounted to disappointment that the storm was such a dud, hosts Steve Doocy, E.D. Hill, Tiki Barber, Brian Kilmeade and Kiran Chetry covered the following stories, among others:

Fox News Issues Preemptive Spin on Feds' Pay Raise

Reported by Judy - Wed 03:35 PM

Nothing gets a conservative American's dander up like the thought of politicians getting a pay raise. Now that the federal government is in Republican hands, however, it's a different story entirely. Fox News' "Dayside" on Wednesday (June 14, 2006) defended the pay raise as well deserved for a bunch of hard-working folks.

Rep to Supreme Leader in Iran - Dealing With Fox News Exclusively

Reported by Donna - Wed 03:30 PM

Shepard Smith with Studio B said he had breaking news from the Senior VP of News Editorial for Fox News, John Moody, who had been in Iran and received a message from an aide to the Supreme Leader in Iran. Moody said the representative said that Iran could help the United States when it comes to Iraq. He said the Iranians weren't specific on how they could help but they were surprised that the Bush administration had not picked up on all of their overtures.

Smith announced this as a Fox exclusive. Do the Iranians, too, think that Fox News speaks for this White House? So now the Iranians will deal exclusively with Fox News when it comes to dealing with the White House?

Is Karl Rove Producing Fox News?

Reported by Donna - Wed 01:38 PM

The entire program of Fox News Live with Bill Hemmer (12 - 1 p.m.) seemed custom designed to make the Bush administration look like everything was right with the world.

It began with a segment from reporter Andrew Stack, in Baghdad, who spoke about how the Iraqi Security Forces were stepping up in Baghdad in Operation Forward Together. Then we had Bill Krystol on to speak about how Bush is committed to victory and how Bush has to convince people who don't think we can win in Iraq that we can win.

It's Not Just FOX

Reported by Ellen - Wed 12:17 PM

Just now, I turned on the TV and channel-surfed for news on Bush's press conference. On CNBC. they called the press conference "a victory lap" after his visit to Baghdad. The screen read: Bush: Victory Lap.

Hannity & Colmes Spins Rove’s Non-Indictment As Legal And Political Victory

Reported by Ellen - Wed 03:57 AM

Like a Rumpelstiltskin of the airwaves, FOX News did its best to spin Karl Rove’s escape from indictment into a complete acquittal of the Bush administration on the entire matter. Each of the two guests seemed to consider the case closed, or that it should be, despite the fact that neither was a legal expert and that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has made no statement indicating his investigation has ended. Neither guest seemed to think that even if no further legal charges are filed, there might still be a number of questions that the Bush Administration ought to answer.

Chickenhawk Sean Hannity Smears War Veteran John Murtha – Again

Reported by Ellen - Wed 01:07 AM

It takes a special brand of bully to smear a war veteran, especially when the smearer, himself, never had enough patriotism to enlist. But chickenhawk Sean Hannity was obviously feeling emboldened last night by what he considered President Bush’s “successes” of the day – his surprise trip to Iraq and the Special Prosecutor’s decision not to indict Karl Rove.

Bernie Goldberg Agrees With Coulter

Reported by Deborah - Tue 09:55 PM

Bernie Goldberg visited The Factor tonight to plug the paperback edition of his hate spewing book," 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America" Now, however, Goldberg has added 10 people to his list for the paperback but fortunately viewers were spared hearing about the new editions because the attention was focused on Goldberg's opinion of Coulter's recent rhetoric. 6/13/06

Neil Cavuto Rewrites Hours-Old History of Bush's Visit to Baghdad

Reported by Melanie - Tue 07:30 PM

It never ceases to amaze me the extent to which Fox News rewrites, or even creates its own version of history, but when it does so when that history is only hours old, as was the case today (June 13, 2006) on Your World w/Cavuto, it blows my mind. It's audacious and it illustrates Fox's utter lack of respect for its audience and for its purported mission, to provide "fair and balanced news."

After a report from Baghdad by Fox reporter Andrew Sack, the first full-blown propaganda segment on Your World today asked, as Cavuto put it: "At a time when critics of the war want us out of there, what does the President's visit say about how we are doing there?" The segment featured two Fox "military analysts," Ret. Col. David Hunt and Ret. Gen. Thomas McInerney.

Republican Gloating On Big Story

Reported by Deborah - Tue 06:05 PM

Happy days are here again at FOX News. Andrew Napolitano, in for John Gibson, was full of enthusiastic optimism as he reported all the recent developments that have raised the Bush approval numbers to 38%. Jim Angle and the Judge gloated about Rove and Larry Sabato gleefully dismissed the Democrats as a powerless force. The celebration was heightened by a Fox News Alert for a Rumsfeld briefing and Joe Biden praising the surprise visit to Iraq by Bush.
