What is Action Network?

This page was created by the BBC.

Updated: 28 Apr 2006

Action Network has been awarded top place in the World Forum on e-Democracy's list of the Top Ten Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics. Use Action Network to help you make a difference in your neighbourhood.

Action Network can help you change something in your local area, by:

  • Putting you in touch with people who feel the same way you do so together you can get something done.
  • Providing you with information and advice you'll need to help you change your local area for the better.

How to get started

To start with you can find out what is going on near you by putting your postcode in our search box or on the homepage.

You can also use the search box to look for information on issues that you’re interested in - opposing the setting up of windfarms in an area of natural beauty, or saving a local building from dereliction, for example. When you’ve found something that catches your eye, you can vote on a campaign or post a comment (although you will need to have registered to do this).

What next?

Action Network also provides you with the means to write articles about issues that matter to you in your local area or organise an online campaign yourself so that you, too, can start making a difference to your community.
