Hodgepodge of News - But Be Sure - Al Zarqawi Died Slow Death

Reported by Donna - Mon 04:18 PM

Monday on Studio B was filled with a hodgepodge of news focusing in on Tropical Storm Alberto. Much time was given over to Governor Jeb Bush about tropical storm/hurrican preparedness.

But Studio B still found time amongst the sniper shooting in Nevada, rising violence statistics for violent crimes in the past four years and the really ridiculous increase in college costs (up 99% in past 4 years against the president slashing grant programs) to tell us that an autopsy had been done on Al Zarqawi and how long it took him to die after the bombing.

Outrageous Quote of the Week - Week of June 4

Reported by Marie Therese - Mon 04:15 AM

Former history teacher Bill O'Reilly was hands down the winner of last week's poll, with a whopping 61% of you agreeing that the Great Bloviator crossed the line with his outrageous and completely false statement accusing WWII American soldiers of murdering unarmed German soldiers.

So, who will the big winner be this week? Check out the five options below the fold and cast your vote for the one you think is the most Outrageous Quote of the Week.

Dr. James Dobson Suggests Non-Violence Of Martin Luther King And Gandhi Was Immoral

Reported by Ellen - Sun 10:17 PM

During his 6/9/06 appearance on Hannity & Colmes, Dr. James Dobson, of Focus on the Family, told Sean Hannity that killing Al-Zarqawi was a moral thing to do. Then, in Alan Colmes’ portion of the discussion, he asked Dobson about the non-violent philosophies preached by Reverend Martin Luther King and Gandhi.

Zarqawi Death Means More War To B Boys

Reported by Deborah - Sun 06:56 PM

The Beltway Boys were very excited about Zarqawi's death claiming it was a "great day". Kondracke opined that we should now " mount an offensive" and Barnes suggested a real clean up in Baghdad. 6/10/06

FOX News’ Sean Hannity And Megyn Kendall Team Up In Duke Rape Case To Undermine US Legal System

Reported by Ellen - Sun 06:45 PM

Having dispensed with their coverage of NSA spying and its related questions of Constitutionality, Friday night’s (6/9/06) Hannity & Colmes got back to the most important legal issue of our day, the Duke lacrosse team rape case. For the gazillionth time, the Duke case was the “top story” of the day with a double segment. Also for the gazillionth time, Sean Hannity and reporter Megyn Kendall did their best to acquit the rich, white Duke lacrosse players in advance of any trial by reporting all of the defense talking points that could be squeezed into the segment. But more important than their blatant attempts to acquit were Hannity’s and Kendall’s not-so-thinly-veiled attempts to interfere with America’s justice system and appoint themselves judge and jury instead.

Ann Coulter, Suspected Of Committing Voter Fraud And Tax Fraud, May Be Plagiarist, Too

Reported by Ellen - Sun 02:39 PM

Less than one week after Ann Coulter may have admitted on Hannity & Colmes that she committed voter fraud and tax fraud, Rude Pundit has uncovered evidence that she may have plagiarized portions of her new book, as well. Read more here. (H/T Raw Story)

Kasich’s Christian Family Hour Includes Ann Coulter - Go Figure!

Reported by Deborah - Sun 12:57 PM

In previewing his “big story” on last night’s Heartland, Kasich showed a picture of Ann Coulter with the accompanying chyron, “Coulter fights back.” He then said that Heartland “brings no nonsense Mid-West sensibilities to important stories facing all Americans.” (Comment: like the 2004 Ohio voting mess, the draconian South Dakota abortion law, and creationism) 6/10/06

Neil Cavuto: A Morally and Ethically "Constipated" Liar

Reported by Melanie - Sat 05:06 PM

Neil Cavuto used Friday's (June 9, 2006) "Common Sense" segment to bash Democrats for not congratulating George Bush on the "good job" done with the killing of Abu Mossad al-Zarqawi. Problem is, as so often is the case with the "moral values" right, he had to lie in order to do it.

He said, "[F]rom Democrats there's barely a good word, if any word at all, for the president. I think Nancy Pelosi more or less said: well, it's about time."

O'Reilly Promotes Coulter's Book While Polishing His Own Image

Reported by Deborah - Fri 09:01 PM

O'Reilly managed to promote Ann Coulter and her book this week without tarnishing his sterling position as the great "culture warrior". He made it clear to his viewers repeatedly all week that he certainly doesn't approve of Coulter's nasty comments but has been sure to keep her front and center anyway. Last night he wrapped up his Coulter-thon with an interview with David Horowitz who claimed Coulter is a "national treasure". 6/8/06

Neil Cavuto Joins the GOP to Perpetuate Retracted Washington Times Lie About Democrats

Reported by Melanie - Fri 06:34 PM

This morning (June 9, 2006), the Washington Times published an article claiming that "some Democrats" said the al-Zarqawi killing was "a stunt." That was a lie. The Times has since changed the language in the article. It now reads, "Some Democrats dismiss air strikes."

The GOP latched onto the Time's original headline and put it on the front page of its website (on the far right (natch), under "Latest Blog Entries"), where it remains to this minute, in its original form.

In Memory of an Unnamed Child, Killed on Wednesday

Reported by Marie Therese - Fri 11:30 AM

At 6:07 AM EDT, June 8, 2006 early in the reporting about the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi,FOX & Friends host Brian Kilmeade said "I think the American people needed this, 'cause we've been riding the wave of beheadings and bombings and suiciders and it's weighing on us and I see everyone exhaling today and a lot of sarcasm in the email saying 'Well, we've got to find out if there's any innocent people in the safe house that were killed along with them that'll be the headlines in the New York Times tomorrow.'"

FOX News Interview #2: Michael Berg Speaks His Truth. Two Minutes Is All FOX Hosts Can Take

Reported by Marie Therese - Fri 05:30 AM

Yesterday, Michael Berg, whose son Nick Berg was allegedly beheaded on tape by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, spoke by phone to the FOX and Friends trio, Steve Doocy, E. D. Hill and Brian Kilmeade. Mr. Berg is the Green Party Candidate for the U. S. Congress in Delaware. Earlier, Lt. Col. Bill Cowan spoke for eight minutes. The average FOX News guest spot is four minutes. Mr. Berg, an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, was cut off by a tight-lipped E. D. Hill after two minutes in which Mr. Berg was not really allowed to finish a thought. He was also cursed with a bad phone connection, a condition that was not in evidence in later telephone interviews with pro-war guests.

Suspected Felon And Substance Abuser Ann Coulter Gets A Third Night Of Republican Rehab From “Criminals R Us” FOX News

Reported by Ellen - Fri 03:55 AM

Are you the subject of a criminal investigation? Is there a skeleton in your closet? Just spout a few Republican talking points, attack Democrats whenever possible and you, too, can be rehabilitated as a FOX News pundit. You may not only get paid, as convicted felon (overturned on a technicality) and FOX News host Oliver North does, you might get three nights of prime-time publicity for your new book, as suspected felon and likely substance abuser Ann Coulter has gotten this week on Hannity & Colmes. There are probably countless more hours of rehab PR for her to come.

Foot in Mouth Disease #1: Steve Doocy Gets It Wrong

Reported by Marie Therese - Fri 12:19 AM

At 6:01 AM EDT on June 8, 2006 (Thursday), FOX & Friends host Steve Doocy did his bsaid the following: "How is the world reacting (to the death of al-Zarqawi}? Well the world markets, when it comes to oil, likes this news and, in fact, for the first time in a while oil has dropped below $70 a barrel in anticipation that the war on terror has taken out one of the world's biggest terrorists." At 8:33 AM EDT, he expanded on this claim, telling guest Dan Senor "... When it comes to the world community and the issue of money and the flow of oil, obviously, taking down Zarqawi has been good news because the world markets have taken a look at the news and the price of a barrel of crude has dropped over a buck, under seventy bucks, big news because they must feel that, if Zarqawi's out of the equation, the pipelines are safer."

Bloodthirsty Sean Hannity On Al-Zarqawi Killing: “Those 500 pound bombs… It gives me Goosebumps.”

Reported by Ellen - Fri 12:15 AM

Iraq, always happy on FOX News, was even happier today with the killing of al-Zarqawi. But as happy as Iraq was, Sean Hannity was downright ecstatic. Speaking to General Tommy Franks, Hannity said, “General, I gotta tell you, when I got up this morning and I turned on the FOX News channel and I got to see that video, with pinpoint accuracy, those 500 pound bombs, one after another being dropped on this man and this location. I gotta tell you. It gives me goosebumps.”

First up is a familiar face at FOX, Lt. Col. Bill Cowan (USMC-Ret). Since leaving the service, the Colonel has started his own security consulting firm, wvc3. He also appears routinely on FOX News as a paid Military Analyst.

A No Post Post

Reported by Melanie - Thu 06:44 PM

Other than an appearance by Ann Coulter, Your World w/Cavuto today (June 8, 2006) was wall-to-wall al-Zarqawi, and about how almost everything - from the situation in Iraq to the economy - will improve as a result of his death.

For those of you hoping for a post about Coulter's appearance, forget it. That witch's name will not pass my lips (or my fingers) again. Henceforth, I won't acknowledge her or her hateful speech.

Entire Studio B - Spent On Death Of Al Zarqawi

Reported by Donna - Thu 04:19 PM

Studio B wih Shepard Smith spent the whole show covering the death of Al Zarqarwi yesterday on today's show. Various correspondents weighed in on what this would mean, but mostly it was just spent talking about how good this was and continually showing the dead and the alive pictures of the man. It was noted several times that Zarqawi's face had been reconstructed for the pictures. They must have been doing plastic surgery all night long.

One note was made that today, the day after his death there were 40 deaths in Iraq from various bombings.

Throwing Specter Under the Bus

Reported by Janie - Thu 09:52 AM

As usual, when a Republican steps out of line and attempts to take the Bush Administration to task, they are automatically thrown under the bus by Fox News. Last night (6/7) on Special Report was no exception, as Brit Hume went after Senator Arlen "Magic Bullet" Specter for his letter to Vice President Cheney, taking him to task for attempting to undermine the NSA warrantless wiretapping probe. Of course, much pertinent information was left out of the segment, once again allowing Fox viewers to be less informed.
