121 million artist albums - which means no compilations - were sold, 7.6% up on the year before. With 2.1 million copies sold, Dido was the top seller.

Justin Timberlake's Justified came in second, followed by Christina Aguilera's Stripped.

Black Eyed Peas were the top singles sellers with 848,000 copies of Where is the Love? and Shut Up. But there was bad news, as singles sales fell by 30%.

Will Young sold the most singles in 2002, shifting a whopping 2,520,000 copies.
