Make 'Em Laugh
"Why did the bride cry at her wedding? Because she didn't marry the best man." It's a lame joke if there ever was one, but not when it comes out of the mouths of babes. Most adults enjoy hearing jokes from children, regardless of the quality and delivery. And for those children who want to take joke telling one step further than their living room, now they can learn the craft of stand-up comedy at classes and workshops.

Alcohol Abuse
Teens & Alcohol Abuse
Like many families, Christine Zeiner kept alcohol in her home for guests. But she and her husband were not regular drinkers, so they didn't notice when it began to disappear. It wasn't until her 13-year-old started neglecting homework and hygiene and began to have violent outbursts at home that she and her husband realized something was wrong. By then their teenager was abusing both alcohol and other drugs.

Risk Assessment
Why Risk It?
"I want to be a hockey goalie," declared my son, Michael. My husband and I looked at each other, then back at our slender, fresh-faced 13 year old. Later, out of Michael's earshot, I said, "He's going to get creamed." Nevertheless, I zipped my lip, bank rolled the $300 for pads, helmet and skates and parked myself rink side to grimace. To my surprise, Michael not only held his own, but became one of the league's best goalies, learned to skate like a pro and gained a reputation as a competitive athlete. It taught me that Michael recognized his strengths and that I could trust his ability to assess risk.
