PASSENGER DIES IN WOODBURY. A motorist, apparently drunk, lost control of his vehicle early yesterday and ran off Woodbury Road in Woodbury, killing a passenger, Nassau police said. Huguens Souhaite, 39, of 99-73 21st St., Queens Village, was driving a 2002 BMW sedan about 4:50 a.m., they said. Francois Desravines, 47, who was in the passenger seat, was taken to North Shore University Hospital at Syosset where he was pronounced dead. Police said Souhaite lost control at Woodbury Road and Verna Way, , where he struck a tree and then a utility pole. Souhaite and Mark Lainben, 37, who was in the back seat, were taken to Nassau University Medical Center, police said. Souhaite was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.- WIL CRUZ
Man accused of passing fake bills

Electronics retailer Circuit City in Valley Stream accepts checks, cash and credit cards, but fake bills won't do. A Rosedale, Queens, man was arrested on felony charges of trying to buy a computer with counterfeit $100 bills, Nassau police said yesterday.

Gretchen Rau, a set decorator who won an Academy Award last month for her work on "Memoirs of a Geisha," died in her Northport home, her family said. She was 66.
