The point at which you would enter this scale depends upon the type of commission you are considering and in some cases, upon your professional or academic qualifications and past experience.

Pay

All Naval Personnel are required to have a bank account. Salary will be paid directly into your bank account at the end of each month and a pay slip issued to show details of your earnings and the deductions made for Tax, National insurance and other charges.

Additional Forms of Pay

Some types of work attract additional pay on top of the annual basic pay. The figures here are for guidance only:

Flying Pay

Awarded to Pilots and Observers on completion of professional training. Ranges from £4,572 on qualifying up to a maximum of £14,516 a year.

Submarine Pay

Awarded to all qualifying Submariners. The initial rate is £3,752 up to a maximum of £6,566 a year. In addition, a £5,000 'Golden Hello' is awarded on completion of training.

Other:

Additional forms of pay are awarded to divers, hydrographers and for a few other very specialist activities.

Longer Service at Sea Bonus

Once you have served at sea for at least 18 months you will receive a bonus of £4.43 per day rising to £11.28 per day, while serving at sea.
