Yesterday [4-4-06] the FOX & Friends trio presented a story about a "major" scandal involving Bank of America, drug kingpins, money laundering and clandestine funding of terrorism. However, by the end of the segment, I felt as though I'd left the real world and entered the Twilight Zone!

Judging from her smile, Ann Coulter was ready to flirt with Alan Colmes last night (4/4/06) on Hannity & Colmes, not be held accountable for her invective against Democrats. But that's exactly what happened when Colmes confronted her on some of her outlandish comments. It was an effective strategy that headed off what he surely knew was a pending attack against Al Gore, liberals, Democrats and anyone else about whom she could think up a nasty joke.

Like a broken record, the non-serving Hannity once again ignored the several military officers who have told him otherwise in order to accuse those who speak out against Bush that they are harming the war effort.

Ann Coulter, currently under investigation for having possibly committed a felony for misstating her legal residence when she registered to vote, then trying to vote in the wrong district, didn’t strike me as the best candidate to be defending Tom DeLay’s ethics (or anyone else’s, for that matter) last night (4/4/06) on Hannity & Colmes but maybe they couldn’t find anyone else.

In addition to being afraid of Iran, Al Qaeda, and bird flu, Fox feels that Americans need to fear and loathe illegal immigrants (especially Mexicans) who, according to some commentators, pose a greater threat than Iran, Al Qaeda, and bird flu. There is a steady drumbeat on Fox about too many Mexicans with too many Mexican flags and yesterday morning’s (4/3/06) news featured this on-going theme.

Even Bill Maher noticed the big push by Fox News to run 'Happy Iraqi' stories, especially last week. On his HBO Real Time Show on Friday, Maher showed an actual 'happy Iraqi' story with a picture of Bill Hemmer in Iraq and a chyron on the lower third of the picture reading:

On Saturday morning, April 1, 2006 during Cashin' In Jonas Max Ferris, co-founder of MaxFunds.com, told the truth to the FOX viewers during an overheated discussion about illegal immigration.

FERRIS: "And that is why it helps corporate profits to have illegals 'cause you pay them less and it lowers the wage rate. Does anybody think lower wages doesn't help corporate profits and stock prices? ... (shouting) It's not the politics about security and Al Qaeda. It's about corporate profits and stock prices and it boosts them and lowers labor rates!!!"

On Fox News Live in the 12 noon to 1 p.m. time slot, Trace Gallagher was filling in for Bill Hemmer. Today's show featured many references to the protests in France. In fact, there were so many references to the protests that it sounded like Fox was eagerly anticipating violence to happen.

In a pre-recorded one-on-one shown on The O'Reilly Factor today 4/3/06 with Juan Hernandez, author of "New American Pioneers: Why Are We Afraid of Mexican Immigrants", Bill O'Reilly asserted that HE is not afraid of Mexican immigrants; a few Americans might be, but most are concerned.

He belied that claim a moment later when he spoke of the "illegals" in his area on Long Island who were driving down property values and making the neighborhood unsafe for children.

Hannity & Colmes guest (4/3/06) former Senator Fred Thompson tried to say that Democrats don’t want the US to win the war in Iraq but backed off to some degree once Alan Colmes confronted him.

Last night, Hannity & Colmes featured a second discussion about the scuffle between Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and a Capitol policeman. But I’m still waiting for a discussion on Jack Abramoff, Tony Rudy (Tom DeLay’s former aide who just pleaded guilty as part of that scandal), Bob Ney or Randy “Duke” Cunningham’s transgressions. There hasn't been much on Traitorgate lately, either. But I have lost track of the number of discussions about Harry Belafonte's "outrageous comments."
