ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ A 31-year-old man who fled from officers during an early morning traffic stop Sunday died after crashing his car into a building, state police said.
Randy W. Russell of Albany was pulled over on Interstate 90 at about 2:40 a.m., after troopers noticed his 1995 Lexus swerving all over the road. Russell sped off after a trooper asked him for his license. Police who followed him off the interstate found Russell's car smashed into a storefront. He had apparently sideswiped a car and struck the concrete wall of a bridge before careening into the building, according to state police.
Russell was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.
"The actual pursuit lasted about one minute," said state police Maj. Gerald E. Meyer.
