Hurricanes players 'caught in club brawl'

    March 07 2006 at 02:42AM

Bloemfontein - Two of the Hurricanes' Super 14 players were involved in a late-night fight at a popular Bloemfontein club after the team's 27-25 loss to the Cheetahs.

Eighth-man and All Black Jerry Collins allegedly elbowed left-wing and team-mate Lome Faiatau in the face after an argument reached boiling point inside of the club.

The argument started inside the club and moved outside soon after, where Collins was alleged to have struck Faiatau.

Cheetahs and former Samaon hooker Trevor Leota was at the club and played peacemaker.

According to sources, Leota managed to end the incident and the players went back into the club.

The Hurricanes were top of the log coming into this match and led 25-10 after 53 minutes before a stirring comeback by the hosts. - Sapa
