Rating Entry

Age

16-40 (45 for ex-Royal Navy personnel). Normal retirement age is 55.

Academic

Nurses – Candidates should be qualified, or undertaking a recognised course with the intention of qualifying as a first level nurse registered on Parts 1 or 12 of the UKCC Register. Suitably qualified nurses may be considered for direct entry as officers.

Engagement

Initial Engagement will be for 5 calendar years. Ratings over 40 on entry will normally be engaged until their 45th Birthday.

Former RN Senior Ratings

Former RN Senior Ratings, under age 45, who meet the minimum educational requirements and who are considered suitable by the Commanding Officer of the RNR Unit they are applying to join, may be referred direct to the Admiralty Interview Board. If successful, direct entry as a Commissioned Officer may be authorised by Director Naval Reserves.
