If Mbeki adds real substance to his new, improved style, he'll be a winner
President Thabo Mbeki has undergone a political faclift in a fresh bid to rescue his legacy and avoid ending up sitting out the remainder of his term as a lame duck. Judging from his state of the nation address, the old authority is not yet entirely back - but the political adrenaline is pumping again and there is a visible attempt to inject a new bounce into his step.
