Catalogue of Canadian volcanoes

Welcome to the home of the Catalogue of Canadian Volcanoes.

The volcanoes younger than about 5 million years in western Canada can be grouped into 6 volcanic belts, and you can search through the volcanoes of each belt using the links on this page. Volcanoes older than about 5 million years aren't covered by this site.

The scattering of volcanoes in south-central B.C. that don't fit into the shown belts are the youngest members of the Chilcotin Plateau Basalt field. This belt was most active between 5 and 23 million years ago, but has seen activity as recently as 40 thousand years ago. The site covers only the young members of this group.

If you want to explore these volcanoes using maps, please go to the Volcano Maps.
