From its beginning in 1870, The Metropolitan Museum of Art has published catalogues of special exhibitions and guides to its permanent collection. A vast and diverse public is reached through the Museum's various publications, which now include—in addition to the exhibition and collection catalogues and periodicals, such as the quarterly Metropolitan Museum of Art Bulletin and the annual Metropolitan Museum Journal—a wide range of educational publications, CD-ROMs, gift books, and books and activities for children.
Copies of many Met publications are available in the Education Department's Library and Teacher Resource Center, including some that are no longer in print.
