Programs at The Cloisters
Image
The Cloisters, the branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, was assembled from architectural elements, both domestic and religious, that date from the twelfth through the fifteenth century. The building and its cloistered gardens—located in Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan—are treasures in themselves, effectively part of the collection housed there. View fifty highlights from The Cloisters: sculpture, tapestries, illuminated manuscripts, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' work, stained glass, enamels, ivories, and more.

Because of its landmark status, The Cloisters has somewhat limited accessibility for visitors with mobility impairments. For more information, please call 212-923-3700 in advance or ask at the entrance upon arrival.

Get directions, hours, and other information about visiting The Cloisters.

All group visits require advance reservations; call 212-650-2280. For specific dates and times of upcoming programs at The Cloisters, consult the Museum's online calendar.

Highlights Tours
Offered Tuesdays through Fridays at 3:00 p.m. and Sundays at noon, these tours of the collection are free with Museum admission for individual visitors. No reservations are required.

Garden Tours
Offered Tuesdays through Sundays at 1:00 p.m. in May, June, September, and October, these tours include horticultural, architectural, and historical information and are free with Museum admission for individual visitors. No reservations are required.

Audio Guide
Narrated by Peter Barnet, Michel David-Weill Curator in Charge of Medieval Art and The Cloisters—the Audio Guide comprises interviews with curators, conservators, and educators. Medieval music on the Audio Guide is evocative of the time and adds to the enjoyment of the experience.

Saturdays at The Cloisters
Lectures and programs for adults are presented at noon and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, year-round, and are free with Museum admission. No advance reservations are necessary. Because of limited gallery space, groups of ten or more cannot be accommodated. In addition, gallery workshops for children aged four to twelve and their families are held at 1:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.

Concerts at The Cloisters
Concerts are held in the twelfth-century Fuentidueña Chapel from Spain, visually and acoustically one of the most beautiful sites for the performance of medieval music. For specific information about upcoming concerts, consult the online calendar, or call 212-650-2290.

Ticket prices include same-day admission to the Museum. Seats are limited, and advance purchase is recommended. All tickets are general seating. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.

To purchase tickets by telephone, call 212-650-2290, Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Special Programs at The Cloisters
In addition to regular Saturday gallery talks, gallery workshops for families, and concerts, The Cloisters offers a number of seasonal programs, which are free with Museum admission. For more information about Garden Day, special gallery talks by The Cloisters summer college interns, Medieval Festival, Uptown Treasures Day, and special holiday programs, please consult the online calendar or call 212-650-2280.
