Dubstar was formed in February 1992 by Steve Hillier and Chris Wilkie. Sarah Blackwood joined as singer with the guys in September 1993. Within six months they were signed to Andy Rosss Food Records. By the time Dubstar split in winter 2000, they had achieved nine top forty singles and three top forty albums in the UK, album sales of over half a million copies, two Melody Maker singles of the week, a number two radio hit (beaten only by Oasis!) with the single No More Talk, countless Music Week singles of the week, headlined the NME stage of the Reading Festival in 1996, had a number one single in Israel and appeared on Top of the Pops three times. Steve Hillier was the main songwriter in Dubstar. The band released over sixty of his songs, eight of which were hit singles. |
