    January 24 2006 at 04:01AM

Sun City Resort has won Best Resort in Africa and Best in South Africa at the 12th annual World Travel Awards, held at the Royal Opera House in London.

The awards recognise the contributions and achievements of the global travel industry. Now in its 12th year, travel professionals and discerning travellers regard the World Travel Awards as the best endorsement a travel product can receive.

Votes are cast by travel agents in 200 countries. The Whole World category is divided into eight regions – Africa; Asia/Pacific; Caribbean; Central & Latin America; Europe; Middle East; North America and South America.

These are then further divided into all areas of the travel industry. Hundreds of thousands of votes are registered on-line at the official World Travel Awards website each year, with most of the leading travel Internet sites offering additional on-line voting facilities.

“It is a an honour for Sun City to be selected as the Best Resort in Africa and South Africa by travel professionals,” says Graham Wood, Operations Director Sun City Resort.

“Our fellow African nominees challenge us to retain our hold on this accolade and we are thrilled to once again collect this award.”

Sun International has dominated the African segment of the World Travel Awards for the past few years.

“This industry-wide recognition highlights our expertise and, more importantly, our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and travel partners. We will continue to work diligently to provide exceptional value to our clients and guests,” says Wood.
