Trial date set for baby-killer accused

    October 07 2005 at 11:50AM

The five people accused of murdering a six-month-old Cape Town baby will appear in the high court for trial on January 30 next year.

Dina Rodrigues, the alleged mastermind behind the killing, and four others; Sipho Mfazwe, Mongezi Bobotyane, Zanethemba Gwada and a 16-year-old youth - appeared briefly in the Wynberg magistrate's court on Friday.

The matter was remanded to December 1 for a formal indictment to be presented. The five will remain in custody.

The matter has been set down for five weeks trial in the Cape High Court.

The state alleges Rodrigues contracted the three men and youth to kill baby Jordan Leigh Norton, who was stabbed to death after men gained access to the Norton household under the pretext of delivering a parcel. - Sapa
