Power will be restored to Roodepoort North, west of Johannesburg, on Monday afternoon, a municipal employee said.

"The power will be back on by 3pm," said a Joburg Connect call centre operator.

"They are busy fixing the mini sub-station in Constantia Kloof."

City Power spokesperson Sol Masolo was not available for comment, and did not return repeated messages left on his cellphone.

The power cut in Roodepoort began on Monday morning.
