Cavuto Suddenly Worries About "Your Tax Dollars" (Those Spent on the Wiretap Hearings, That Is)

Mon 08:17 PM

I've monitored Your World w/Neil Cavuto for a year and a half. During that time I have never heard a discussion about the cost of the Iraq war. I have never heard anything about the millions missing from the Iraq reconstruction fund. Last week, when George Bush asked for a "quick infusion" of $70 billion for the Iraq war, I didn't hear a word. I didn't hear any discussion today (February 6, 2006) about the $2.77 trillion dollar budget proposal the Bush administration released this morning. But one thing I did hear was Neil Cavuto expressing concern about "your tax dollars," as they relate to the wiretap hearings, that is.

Who Gets To Decide If It's Art Or Just Crude And Offensive?

Mon 08:06 PM

Where does it stop? Today on Studio B with Shepard Smith he spoke with frequent guest, Michael O'Hanlon from the Brookings Institute. They spoke regarding the riots at Denmark's Embassy in Iran and a U.S. Military compound in Afghanistan because of a caricature of Muhammed.

But in the ensuing conversation O'Hanlon seemed to be willing to sacrifice freedom of speech or art in favor of what he called "crude and offensive artwork.'

Neverending FNC Clinton Obsession

Mon 07:08 PM

Ken Mehlman. Republican Party Chairman, attacked Hillary Clinton today claiming that she is too angry to get elected. Of course, John Gibson was compelled to devote a segment to this routine Republican pastime of Hillary bashing. A comically distorted shot of the Senator was shown several times throughout the segment making her look crazed with anger. Rich Galen and Martin Frost were called in to discuss Clinton's anger issues. 2/6/06

FOX News Wastes No Time Spinning Gonzales Hearing On Warrantless Spying

FOX & Friends' Steve Doocy Uses Super Bowl Coverage to Boost Republican Candidate

Mon 04:02 PM

Every now and then, their loyalty to the GOP just gets the better of a FOX News host. The loosely secured mask of impartiality drops and true feelings come to the fore. Unable to contain himself or herself, the FOX News host or analyst breathlessly blurts out their enthusiasm about some Republican issue or candidate. It happened earlier today on FOX & Friends.

Fred Barnes Is Keeping His Three SUVs

Sun 08:44 PM

Fred Barnes didn't seem to like the Bush comment about our "oil addiction" in the SOTU speech claiming, on Beltway Boys, that he didn't think Americans have reached that stage. He also was not enthusiastic about alternative fuels commenting that he didn't think "ethanol and methanol would help a whole lot". Barnes declared proudly, I'm keeping my three SUV's." Barnes acting like alternative fuels were too crazy for the real world might never consider the possibility that the emissions from his precious SUVs are contributing to a quickly escalating weather crisis.

Fox News Analyst Calls for Impeaching Bush

Sun 04:02 PM

Fox News tried Saturday (February 4, 2006) to get Wall Street to come to the rescue of the Bush Administration and protect it from any political fallout for spying on Americans without warrants, but the effort failed when a Democratic analyst called for George Bush to be impeached for violating the law.

Ann Coulter "jokes" joins Bill O'Reilly's "satire"

Sun 01:11 PM

Right-wing darling Ann Coulter "joked" last week that Supreme Court Justice Stevens should be assassinated to bring the court further right, so they can outlaw abortion. Such a pro-life attitude! We haven't noted it earlier on News Hounds because, if it was reported at all on FNC, it was done quickly and then dismissed. Can you imagine if someone on the left called for the murder of a right-wing justice and then tried to pass it off as a "joke"?

FOX Links Sheehan To Iran

Sun 12:15 PM

Although there was no direct verbal linking of Sheehan to Iran, John Kasich managed to get that message out to his viewers during Heartland last night. Linda Chavez teamed with Kasich and in a few minutes Sheehan and Iran were linked using Hugo Chavez as a middleman. 2/4/06

Forbes on FOX's Experts Offer Solution to Nation's Financial Woes - Cut Taxes on Big Oil!

Sun 03:12 AM

Life is good for David Asman as it is for all of the Forbes magazine panelists: Mike Ozanian, Elizabeth MacDonald, John Rutledge, Lea Goldman, Mike Maiello and Quentin Hardy.

Washington Post CARTOON OUTRAGE (Updated)

Sat 01:46 AM

In yet another discussion on Hannity & Colmes last night (2/3/06) about the controversy over the Washington Post cartoon by Tom Toles showing a quadruple amputee, the “we report, you decide” network gave its viewers a not-so-subliminal hint about what should be decided when it put on the screen for most of the segment, ‘CARTOON OUTRAGE.’

Harris Faulkner Carries Water For The Bush Administration Again and Again

Fri 11:32 PM

Last week, I posted about FOX newscaster Harris Faulkner doing President Bush's bidding by calling his domestic spying "terrorist surveillance" just hours after Bush suggested that's what it should be called. Tonight on Hannity & Colmes, Faulker proved two more times that reporting the news may be less important than spinning it for Bush.

Given the Boobs and Bras and All, Do Dick Cheney and James Dobson Still Watch Fox?

Fri 10:05 PM

Neil Cavuto aired his annual Lingerie Bowl show today (as well as some "adult-like" video of Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and a GoDaddy model), which I'll post about tomorrow, but in the meantime I thought you'd like to see a screen shot of something Fox aired this morning -- yes, this morning -- when itty bitty babies were watching.

Is Fox feeding the "perverts" Bill O'Reilly loves to hate? Has James Dobson forgiven Cavuto for putting this picture up immediately after his appearance on Your World last year? Does Dick "Mr. Righteous" Cheney still spend "a lot of time watching Fox News, because they're more accurate in my experience, in those events that I'm personally involved in, than many of the other outlets"?

They're (Still) Drinkin' the Kool-Aid Over at Fox

Fri 07:06 PM

And They Want You to Drink Some Too

Predictably, Neil Cavuto was ga ga today (February 3, 2006) about the unemployment numbers released by the Labor Department. (Jobless Rate Drops to Four-Year Low.) Cavuto would have his audience believe that the numbers prove that the Bush administration has a steady, knowledgeable hand on the economy, and father-Bush is doing all the right things to bring wealth and prosperity to each and every one of us. The only problem is, the media doesn't report it.

The Great Cartoon War: FOX Rallies to Defend Joint Chiefs, Political Humorists Fight Back

Fri 05:50 PM

Yesterday, FOX News Channel was clearly under orders from the powers-that-be to justify a letter of rebuke sent to the Washington Post by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, protesting a cartoon that made fun of Donald Rumsfeld.

Here's cartoonist M. e. Cohen's rebuttal (2-3-06, reprinted with permission):

Poor Exxon Mobil - Fox Says "Cut Taxes on Big Oil!"

Fri 12:39 PM

Does it bother you just a teensy weensy bit that in the fourth quarter of 2005, Exxon Mobil posted the highest profits ever recorded by a U.S. company -- $10.71 billion -- or that its annual 2005 revenues hit $371 billion -- an amount that exceeds the gross domestic product of Saudi Arabia?

If you're concerned about these obscene corporate profits and wonder how Fox News is addressing the issue, watch "Forbes on Fox" tomorrow (February 4, 2006) morning. Forbes on Fox is one of Fox's four Saturday morning "Cost of Freedom" "business news" shows. The headline topic tomorrow will be: "Want Lower Gas Prices? Cut Taxes on Big Oil!"

Bill O'Reilly: House of Representatives Should Investigate Lynn Woolsey and Barbara Lee

Fri 01:00 AM

On last night's O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly posited that there is a "good chance that California Congresswomen [Lynn] Woolsey and [Barbara] Lee intentionally tried to sabotage the State of the Union address" because they arranged for Cindy Sheehan to receive a spectator's ticket. He went on to demand that the House of Representatives investigate both women as to what their true motivations were. However, I've been having a lot of difficulty finding any mention of Barbara Lee's involvement in the Sheehan ticket incident, so I must assume that O'Reilly lumped her in with Woolsey for other reasons. Perhaps it was this item in yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle:

Pat Robertson Still Wants To Assassinate Chavez. Hannity Suggests Maybe We Should Kill The President Of Iran, Instead. Or Did He Mean Also?

Fri 12:40 AM

Sean Hannity and Pat Robertson talked assassinations and Christianity on last night’s (2/2/06) Hannity & Colmes. Those aren’t two topics I’d expect to find in the same discussion but anything goes on FOX News. Shortly after Sean Hannity finished berating the NAACP for calling the Republican Party Nazi’s, there was a double-segment with Pat Robertson which was described on the screen as “ANSWERS HIS CRITICS.”
