Fox News tried Saturday (February 4, 2006) to get Wall Street to come to the rescue of the Bush Administration and protect it from any political fallout for spying on Americans without warrants, but the effort failed when a Democratic analyst called for George Bush to be impeached for violating the law.

Right-wing darling Ann Coulter "joked" last week that Supreme Court Justice Stevens should be assassinated to bring the court further right, so they can outlaw abortion. Such a pro-life attitude! We haven't noted it earlier on News Hounds because, if it was reported at all on FNC, it was done quickly and then dismissed. Can you imagine if someone on the left called for the murder of a right-wing justice and then tried to pass it off as a "joke"?

FOX Links Sheehan To Iran

Although there was no direct verbal linking of Sheehan to Iran, John Kasich managed to get that message out to his viewers during Heartland last night. Linda Chavez teamed with Kasich and in a few minutes Sheehan and Iran were linked using Hugo Chavez as a middleman. 2/4/06

Last week, I posted about FOX newscaster Harris Faulkner doing President Bush's bidding by calling his domestic spying "terrorist surveillance" just hours after Bush suggested that's what it should be called. Tonight on Hannity & Colmes, Faulker proved two more times that reporting the news may be less important than spinning it for Bush.

Neil Cavuto aired his annual Lingerie Bowl show today (as well as some "adult-like" video of Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and a GoDaddy model), which I'll post about tomorrow, but in the meantime I thought you'd like to see a screen shot of something Fox aired this morning -- yes, this morning -- when itty bitty babies were watching.

Is Fox feeding the "perverts" Bill O'Reilly loves to hate? Has James Dobson forgiven Cavuto for putting this picture up immediately after his appearance on Your World last year? Predictably, Neil Cavuto was ga ga today (February 3, 2006) about the unemployment numbers released by the Labor Department. (Jobless Rate Drops to Four-Year Low.) Cavuto would have his audience believe that the numbers prove that the Bush administration has a steady, knowledgeable hand on the economy, and father-Bush is doing all the right things to bring wealth and prosperity to each and every one of us. The only problem is, the media doesn't report it.

Does it bother you just a teensy weensy bit that in the fourth quarter of 2005, Exxon Mobil posted the highest profits ever recorded by a U.S. company -- $10.71 billion -- or that its annual 2005 revenues hit $371 billion -- an amount that exceeds the gross domestic product of Saudi Arabia?

Bill O'Reilly: House of Representatives Should Investigate Lynn Woolsey and Barbara Lee

On last night's O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly posited that there is a "good chance that California Congresswomen [Lynn] Woolsey and [Barbara] Lee intentionally tried to sabotage the State of the Union address" because they arranged for Cindy Sheehan to receive a spectator's ticket. He went on to demand that the House of Representatives investigate both women as to what their true motivations were. However, I've been having a lot of difficulty finding any mention of Barbara Lee's involvement in the Sheehan ticket incident, so I must assume that O'Reilly lumped her in with Woolsey for other reasons. Perhaps it was this item in yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle:

Sean Hannity and Pat Robertson talked assassinations and Christianity on last night’s (2/2/06) Hannity & Colmes. Those aren’t two topics I’d expect to find in the same discussion but anything goes on FOX News. Shortly after Sean Hannity finished berating the NAACP for calling the Republican Party Nazi’s, there was a double-segment with Pat Robertson which was described on the screen as “ANSWERS HIS CRITICS.”

Never mind that less than twenty-four hours later Bush's Energy honcho, Samuel Bodman, was back-pedaling from the numbers that made it into the address despite thirty re-writes (shades of Nigerian yellowcake).

On Tuesday night during his State of the Union address, George Bush said he would work to help the U.S. "move beyond a petroleum-based economy and make our dependence on Middle Eastern oil a thing of the past." Yesterday morning, less than 24 hours later, we learned that Bush didn't mean it.

Bush's energy secretary and his national economic advisor held a conference call with reporters Wednesday morning. Energy Secretary Bodman said "This was purely an example." He said Bush just wanted to dramatize the issue in a way that "every American sitting out there listening to the speech understands."

Last night, there was a lengthy discussion with Republican Mitt Romney about President Bush's State of the Union Address but somehow this little tidbit from Knight RIdder never got discussed:"One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting imports from there 75 percent by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said Wednesday that the president didn't mean it literally."
