Does Wal-Mart Finally Get It?

Sat 12:27 PM

Being stingy with your workers may be good for the bottom line, but is bad for a company's public image. It looks like some of the folks on Fox News' financial show "Bulls and Bears" are finally getting that message.

Humanitarian Award For Rupert Murdoch

Sat 12:23 PM

Rupert Murdoch recieved an award from the Simon Wiesenthal Center in recognition of his support of Israel. The award was presented by Nicole Kidman.

comment: This news leaves me shocked, confused and disgusted. How can a man responsible for so many character assassinations be declared a humanitarian by a Jewish organization?

Democratic “Strategist” Michael Brown Plays Right Into The Republican Game Plan For Alito Confirmation. With Democracy In Danger, The Democrats Dither.

Sat 02:14 AM

Once again, the Republicans on Hannity & Colmes tried to make the Alito confirmation hearings all about the Democrats. Thanks to Democratic “Strategist” Michael Brown they largely succeeded Friday night (1/13/06). Brown is another one of those nice, likeable FOX News Democrats whose major strategy seems to be to flatter Republicans and make them look good. At no time did Brown seem to be at all concerned that the Senate might be on the verge of confirming a Supreme Court judge likely to move the court significantly to the right and toward greater executive-branch power.

Dick Morris Gives Yet Another “Fair And Balanced” Assessment Of Hillary Clinton.

Sat 12:14 AM

It’s kind of like calling on Ambassador Joe Wilson to provide an analysis of George Bush but “real journalism, fair and balanced” FOX News trots out Dick Morris at the drop of a Hillary rumor or innuendo. Thursday night’s (1/12/06) excuse was the fact that Hillary had been at the same function as Bush-basher Harry Belafonte. That made it something of a grand slam for Morris and FOX News – enabling them to sweep up Hillary, Harry and “major enemy of the United States” Hugo Chavez in one liberal-demonizing swoop. Don’t tell me the old “we report, you decide” network didn’t plan it that way. The fact that Morris’ latest book is published by a sister company to FOX News, was just icing on the cake.

What's Fox Afraid of? The Difference Between its Website and its TV Broadcast

Fri 07:03 PM

I've often noticed a drastic difference between the schedule of Fox's "premiere business news" program, Your World w/Neil Cavuto, as presented on Fox's website and the content of the show presented on television. Below is an example of what I mean. I'm left wondering: Why is Fox's web presence so different from its television presence? Why is what it puts in writing on the web so sanitized? Is Fox afraid of something?

Bill O'Reilly & Sen. Lindsey Graham - Part II: "Cruel, inhumane, degrading treatment is different than torture."

Fri 05:46 PM

After the commercial break during yesterday's O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly quizzed Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina about torture, which is one of O'Reilly's favorite obsessions, especially water boarding.

O'REILLY: Do you believe the Bush administration has ordered torture

GRAHAM: No, I do not.

Bill O'Reilly & Sen. Lindsey Graham - Part I: "You don't smear a man in front of the world while his wife and family are sitting behind him"

Fri 05:40 PM

On last night's Factor host O'Reilly interviewed Senator Lindsey Graham, the Republican Senator from South Carolina. As you may recall, Graham is the member of the Senate Judiciary Committee whose voice quivered and whose eyes filled as he spoke words of support to Supreme Court nominee, Judge Samuel Alito and his family. Graham, a seasoned JAG lawyer, used all the skills at his disposal to convey his disapproval of the Democrats who had the temerity to do their job as opposition party leaders and question the judge on his membership in a radically conservative student organization at Princeton during his college years.

Grapevine Whine - Misleading Mine Stats?

Fri 03:51 PM

Thursday night (1/12) on Special Report, anchor Brit Hume used "picking" #3 on his Grapevine segment to tout the Bush administration's alleged record of improved mine safety. While this might seem rather callous in light of the recent tragedy at the Sago mine in West Viriginia, it's entirely in keeping with similar pronouncements by the White House. Not content with praising the Bush administration, Hume also threw in a little Clinton-bashing &, for good measure, some New York Times-bashing too. But it turns out that Hume's math skills may need a refresher course.

Whose Confirmation Hearing Is This Anyway? Hannity And Hatch Try To Make The Alito Hearings About Democrats.

Fri 02:50 AM

After four days of hearings into a possible lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land, the only issue Sean Hannity wanted to discuss was the behavior of Democrats. Expansion of executive powers? Roe v. Wade? Individual civil liberties? No biggie. The really important question for the suddenly sensitive Hannity and Senator Orrin Hatch was whether or not Ted Kennedy was too much of a meanie. Can there be any doubt of their conclusion? Fortunately, Alan Colmes and a Yale law professor reminded them that the real subject is Alito.

Pat Robertson's apology - so am I back in on the $50 million contract?

Thu 11:58 PM

John Gibson used his "My Word" segment on The Big Story today 1/12/06 to aid in the rehabilitation of religious right-winger Pat Robertson and to admonish that he should be careful what he says because it could be misconstrued. Over a chyron of "Reverend Pat Robertson put his foot in mouth the other day" Gibson said that Robertson "seemed to say" that Israeli Prime Minister Sharon's stroke was an act of God, punishment for Sharon's policies. Video was played of Robertson reading his apologetic letter to Sharon's son.

Did Samuel Alito's Wife Cry on Cue?

Thu 10:00 PM

George Schlatter, the creator of the '70s television show, Laugh-In, was a guest on Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (January 12, 2006). Schlatter appeared in a segment that concluded an hour-long Democrat bash -- "Will Vicious Dems Pay for Driving Alito's Wife to Tears?" -- about Democrats supposedly "driving Alito's wife," Martha, "to tears" during yesterday's confirmation hearings. During his "discussion" with Cavuto, Schlatter asked Cavuto if he noticed that, "about 15 minutes before she started to cry, an aide came in and moved him [Samuel Alito] slightly to the right because he was covering her, and ten minutes later she started to cry. So, fortunately, he'd moved enough so we could see it."

Pillorying Hillary on Big Story

Thu 08:15 PM

John Gibson attempted to tie Senator Hillary Clinton to singer Harry Belafonte today 1/12/06 on The Big Story. Belafonte has been in the news for his recent comments, which he refused to back away from, that GW Bush is the world's greatest terrorist. Clinton and Belafonte were both at a meeting today of the Children's Defense Fund, and Gibson seized the opportunity to link the two complete with a chyron "Hillary and Harry". "Former Clinton advisor" Dick Morris was the guest to comment on the event and "the fun mix of of celebrities and politics."

Fox News: "Will Vicious Dems Pay for Driving Alito's Wife to Tears?"

Thu 07:42 PM

The theme of Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (January 12, 2006) was the supposed viciousness of Democrats (it's an election year folks) who presumably made Samuel Alito's wife cry yesterday during Alito's confirmation hearings.

The program opened with a FOX NEWS ALERT, a chyron that read, "Will Vicious Dems Pay for Driving Alito's Wife to Tears?" and this from Cavuto: "This is a Fox News Alert! Did Democrats do more harm to themselves than to Samuel Alito during the hearings for the Supreme Court nominee? The likes of Ted Kennedy and company literally driving his wife to tears just yesterday after repeatedly trying to paint Alito as a bigot, an image Americans might not soon forget. But, did they just go a long way toward making many Americans forget about them next November?" (Cavuto's MO is to turn his most propagandistic statements into innocent-sounding questions.)

Where Is All The Money Going For The Gulf Coast Recovery?

Thu 04:38 PM

Today on Studio B with Shepard Smith the show began with the last part of President Bush's speech in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. After his upbeat speech (with lots of applause and again, there was no mention of who comprised the audience), Smith showed video of four towns along the Mississippi coast that were still totally devastated.

Grapevine Whine - Your Civil Liberties Don't Matter

Thu 10:10 AM

Wednesday night ((1/11) on Special Report, anchor Brit Hume used a "picking" on his Grapevine segment to reinforce an ongoing theme: government spying on Americans trumps "personal privacy" (which used to be known as the Bill of Rights, but then when did Fox ever let picky little details like that get in the way). Hume mentioned some (but not all) of the findings of a Washington Post poll -- curious how the reactionaries at Fox routinely smear the WaPo as part of the mythical "liberal media" unless & until they publish something that can be spun as meshing with Fox's pro-Bush agenda, & then the WaPo is proudly cited as a source. Of course, in order to spin this properly, Hume had to omit most of the other findings of the poll, & completely ignore another poll reported in the same newspaper on the same day.

Dick Cheney And Hannity Agree That Questions About The Government Spying On Americans Are Just Partisan Politcs. Oh, and Iraq is “A Remarkable Success Story.”

Thu 05:30 AM

Dick Cheney, apparently too chicken to face Alan Colmes, was interviewed by Sean Hannity alone last night on Hannity & Colmes. Speaking of the Alito confirmation hearings, Hannity said, “It’s clear that (Democrats) want to make the issue of presidential power a big part of these hearings, I would argue to politicize it, and bring up the issue of NSA spying.”

Democrat-bashfest on The Big Story

Thu 01:33 AM

Most of the Big Story hour today 1/11/06 was live coverage of the Senate confirmation hearings on nominee Sam Alito, but during a twenty minute break host John Gibson had on Republicans Ed Gillespie and Newt Gingrich, Alito friend Judge Andrew Napolitano, and conservative columnist Katie O'Beirne. It was twenty minutes of Dem-bashing and hyperbole. Democrat Charles Schumer made an appearance at the end of the hour but was cut off as the program changed to Brit Hume's Special Report.

FOX Host & Guests: 35 Million Seniors Represented by AARP Are Left-Wing Vultures, Out to Drain the National Treasury

Wed 07:30 PM

This morning FOX & Friends' resident "perky blonde" hostess E. D. Hill (who is definitely under 50 years of age) interviewed two guests on the topic of the "hidden agenda" behind the AARP. She started the interview segment by bitch-slapping Harry Belafonte, AARP's 2005 Impact Award Winner, for his recent remark during a trip to Venezuela, in which he referred to President Bush as the world's greatest terrorist. After noting that the AARP issued a statement yesterday repudiating Mr. Belafonte's words, Hill then set the tone for the interview to follow: "Does the AARP have an agenda?"
