Berry Berenson

Berry Berenson (Berinthia B. Perkins) (1948 - September 11, 2001) was a model, actress and photographer. She died at age 53 in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack on board American Airlines flight 11. She had been returning from a holiday in Cape Cod to her California home.
She was survived by her two sons, one of whom, Osgood (Oz) Perkins Jr., co-starred with Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde.

Berry Berenson had an aura that was unique. She was blessed with grace and beauty as well as a wide ranging intelligence. From her photographs one could see that she saw not with her eyes but through her eyes and that the world entered through these eyes that led to her heart and to her immense soul. Her death at a young age was more than tragic. It was an attack on Life itself, the theft of such a promising and uncompleted career. I had the great pleasure of meeting her older sister once in the 70's in London while she was filming and was struck by her beauty and the feline elegance with which she moved---like Rilke's immortal Panther--at once near and remote. She was wearing a dress which gave me some indication of what I judged to be the most beautiful thighs God ever created. I can imagine the loss she feels at her sister's untimely death and can only offer my deeply felt sympathy for her pain as partial assuagement.
